I actually did feel bad for you, you are a lost soul who unfortunately got lost in the mad world of UER, kind of like a blind squirrel trying to find a nut. And as they say, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes", but what if the squirrel is a nut? I bet you would eat yourself and post a boat pick right before you lick your lips. But hey, you don't have to take my word for it, you have a mirror I'm sure.

| | | | I'd have to say you're choosing to be ignorant to what we say, so I don't know why I'm wasting my time writing this because you're obviously going to overlook it again, just like you've overlooked everything 50+ people from this city have written to you over the last year as you single handedly argue against a whole community of explorers who have a functional way of handling themselves.
But here it goes.
We have lots of locations in our city, the majority of which are sensitive. Because we have lots of locations, we have lots of explorers, and lots of explorers means lots of exposure. Lots of exposure means lots of media and local government attention, governments who are trying to take our locations away. To combat this, we proactively stop local explorers from posting location information in public, and instead slowly invite them into our own community, hence why you always see MSP noobs disappear from this site. We adopt the intelligent ones in. Because we have such a large and thriving community, we can have even more secure long-term locations or do our own crazy events and road trips, and have lots of international friends and visitors from all over. We have sister UE cities in Chicago and Kansas City, hence why there is such a strong bleed over between attitudes.
You just don't see any of this, because we don't talk about it on UER. All you see is us asking (and occasionally demanding) people take stuff down, else it ruins it for everyone. If we do use UER to our advantage, it's in PM's, out of the public's eyes. We are like the northeast section, only with the good posts and discussions, photos and fun happening offline or in group emails.
See, you're in STL. STL is a fucking shithole. I should know, because I (and many others from MSP) have explored there. Buildings wide open, torn down fences, buildings spilling out into the street. ESL is a fucking ghost town, and we almost lost an axel in an open manhole. In short, no authority gives a damn if people go in these places because they have so much more to worry about, and no one seals your locations. Hell, the only place in the whole city that seemed secure was the arch.
Now, take the security at the arch, but make that citywide rather than just a park. Clean up the streets, no gaping holes in buildings, abandoned buildings being difficult to come by... that's MSP. Now throw in a swiss cheese underground that have very restricted access points that can't be replaced or reopened. Now, amplify the number of explorers in the city by about 200 fold for what STL likely is, and throw in a municipal council that's bound and determine to stop each and every one of them. Think "explorer profiling" by cops. Ever end up in a squad car for simply having a headlamp in your pocket? Now throw in famous websites, documentaries, books, academic papers and more all hyping exploring in your city.
You might begin to get somewhere close to what it's like up here. In short, explorers (and a lot of graffiti artists surprisingly) up here don't post online in public because it's shooting everyone in the foot. It's easier to stay quiet online, and have fun with your friends in person, than to have an internet ego.

As far as the way you act or run your community, that's fine. Be that way in your area, but, this is an online forum. Enforcing local rules on other people in an online forum because thats the way you run your area is absurd.
Now, as far as stl being a shithole, yeah, it is and by your logic, it is that way because of uer.
You say you have this grand hierarchy and that other people should not post or comment in the msp area because of your local issues with l.e.o. the press and other threats to your community, well why don't you ask the mods at uer to remove the msp area from uer. Or at least make it a super secret password, special handshake, members only area and stay clear of the rest of uer. That should calm your butt hurt a little bit.
As for the insults... that is just plain good online community etiquette right there and as I have stated before, I am pleased to see that you conduct yourself in such a manner.
As far as mom upstairs being proud, well- she did throw down a few beers even after the cards lost.
Having said all that, on to something else.

then again i'm just some rookie in the boonies of Tennessee where the most exciting thing in a 15 minute drive is a house that was abandoned 10 years go

Oragnedrink: Places get locked up, burned down, scrapped, tagged, demo'd for reasons other than uer. That is a fact and it can not be argued. 4 miles from my house is a building that has been empty for well over 10 years. I have no idea why- nobody knows really. The property has always had the cops rolling thru it and now there is a 24 hour guard as some recent rebuilding activity has started. Over 10 years, no tags, no vandalism, no school kids smoking pot- nothing but repeated attempts to enter by all kinds of people from a few hobo last winter to random teens with skateboards. Why? I don't know. Someone wanted to keep the property in good shape I guess. Why is this important? let me tell you, while very little is know about this property, every time someone gets caught there, its in the paper police logs(not the main city wide, but the local community / municipality short pages). Seems logical to stay away to me, while less than a mile from that is a small green house farm that is all but ready to be leveled as it will fall on its own in less than a year I bet as it has been "worked over" by everything and everybody... I have been there, it's lame and very unsafe with a roof that sways in the breeze.... And I don't think I have seen that place on the internet. anyplace. ever.
And yeah, "don't post" is what i got from a few of the other replies to more than a few newbs.
edit to add: So... if that was the case? At what point in time does that entitle anyone msp or not to publicly bash another member on the quality of the location shared or the quality of the photos? That is what makes the msp look like a bunch of assholes. This is uer, not highschool.
