I was starting at the seats and had this horrible flashback of riding in my friend's '85 Blazer. It rode so rough I'd get launched out of those otherwise comfy seats from nothing more than a pothole. He loved that truck.

Durango package?

Hey, my Durango drove beautifully. It was just a terrible vehicle that used to shed parts pretty frequently.

no, dummy... Durango was an option/trim package for the S10 and S10 Blazer (to some extent). There was Tahoe, Durango, Baja and a third I can't remember for the life of me.

That first car is a '39 LaSalle (sort of a very low priced Cadillac). Second one is a '66 Toronado I believe. Third is a 46-48 V12 powered Lincoln Continental. The LaSalle is wearing a 1973-77ish Mass. license plate up front, that's pretty interesting. Were these just sitting in long term storage, or actually abandoned? I hope no one vandalizes them.
"Walter, what are you doing, man?" |

Fun fact. These behemoths are front wheel drive.

^Very true, and oddly enough, they used an Olds 455 and front wheel drive transaxle setup from the Oldsmobile Toronado.

The Lincoln and the Olds had registration tabs dated '78. I found them in an old factory that just got sold recently. I wouldn't really say it was "abandoned", but no one was around and it was clearly disused. The power was still on and humming away, they had several motion alarms (only one tripped and went red but no one came), motion lights, and in one spot in a more modernized part of office space there was a functioning telephone closet full of 66 and 110 blocks that were all wired up and hot. I'm keeping this place tightly under wraps. If someone vandalized these cars I would lose my shit.

Super sweet find man!

What I would give to own that Lincoln...Clean it up, restore it to showroom condition. I too hope no one else finds it and vandalizes it.

i'd rather have the Toronado... those were such a clean car, not a bad line anywhere.

Dsomms - awesome find dude! ...and man, those Toronado were kick butt ~ except that even with the huge fuel tank, you could still watch the needle drop when your foot was in it :-/ Had some fun one day with a Buick Riviera - same motor (445). The Olds hung in there, but the Buick was all over the place. It was my girlfriends parents car. Oddly they wouldn't let me drive it after I backed into a building flying up an ally in reverse. 16 yr olds think they can do anything :-/ *edit: ...Olds hung in there, but was all over...

i briefly had a 1972 Pontiac Catalina Sport coupe... this thing weighed so much i was surprised I didn't need a CDL to pilot it. It was like driving the starship enterprise and when you put your foot down, the big-block 350 would ROAR to life and the gas gauge would PLUMMET towards empty. I think i drove that car two weeks... and this was when gas was around $1.00 a gallon! this is a 73 and not my car, but this was what it looked like. Mine was like a silver-rust-beige color.
