Ive learned with experience. don't ever assume a door is lock or welded.

And even if it is. . . There is always a way.
I squeezed through a hole in a grate once that was pretty similar in size to Therrin's shot earlier, only difference being that this one has spikes. I barely made it the first time, got stuck the second, third time I didn't eat for 12 hours before, and I made it through fine.
It was the hole at the top, the space is a lot smaller than it looked. Required some very careful positioning so I didn't puncture my scrotum on one of those nasty looking metal bars.

From the inside looking out. Not a huge gap, but simpler than it looked.

Entry to the rooftop playground is free, if you look up enough to know it's there.

Also, a foot and a half of room under one side of the gate. Pfft.

And apparently it's a twenty foot walk to that open window.

Yeah, I don't think they really cared much about securing that place

There was stuff like this on forestry gates all over the area where I grew up.

We.. "people" would cut links out and put their own locks on so they could get their vehicles in. It's more about keeping vehicles out than people.
It's not like most of these places you can't just climb OVER the fence; doesn't really restrict pedestrian access at all.

@Tastee
At this one mine, they piled huge rocks inside the entrance adit on one side. Inside that was a concreted-in culvert with two angle-iron pieces welded inside of it. After squeezing in through the rocks (a very, very tight fit), there was a tiny little space to maneuver head-first in-between the pieces of angle iron. As you notice in the video, I couldn't even fit with my helmet on.

Had to exhale all the air out of my lungs and squeeeeeeze through, where your skin has to flatten out and your bones get a little mushed till you pop out the other side.
At a similar location, a friend of mine with 'prominent' boobs & ass got stuck, twice, (once on each natural physical protuberance) trying to wiggle over the top of a bat-gate in a mine. That was quite a day.

@ Therrin: ok, I was actually holding my breath through part of that video...

I used to cave with an old guy who had a horror story about half the places we went. One was about a man who slowly asphyxiated to death after slipping into a vertical fissure (we were underground, creeping alongside said fissure at the time). Every time the man exhaled, he became more firmly wedged in.

An abandoned hospital in my town has fences around the building...but the fences go into the woods and stop, so all you have to do is walk 2 feet into the woods to get to the other side.

I lived in a small town that was home to many big festivals that cost money, same forest situation though and I always kept the coloured wristbands so I wouldn't get kicked out.

I know the feeling, though I haven't done much caving, there are rather small. . . Entrances. . . In my area.

For the record, I do not have a big backpack. And the drain was that size for a good 50 feet before it widened out and I could stand up a bit. My elbows looked like hamburger from dragging myself along.

But at least it was dry.

Next time use a skateboard. Lay on it and push yourself along with your feet or gloved hands. =)

I've been in pipes like that before!

**EDIT**

Oh man, actually I went down one of those a LOOOONG way, then couldnt find anywhere to turn around and had to back out feet first. Took over an hour just to get back out that way. Ugh. Skateboards are win-status on small pipes.

Agreed. 100 percent agreed. This was half the reason I bought a longboard. The only downside is when you run across a pool of water and the axle grease gets all muddy, then you have to pull the wheels off and re-lube it every time you take them down. Takes longer than you'd think. But if you get into a larger drain, and the floor is smooth. . . . Soooo much fun. Drainsurfing is one of the most fun things I think I've ever done underground.

We did some drain luge'ing down some near 45* drops. We strapped pillows to ourselves using a couple old belts, and wore a helmet. We were also like 14. looking back on things its lucky we didn't catch an arm or a leg on one of the side pipes while rocketing through the pipe. Coulda gone poorly.

I think we need an Olympic sport made out of this.

Funny thing is I thought this was way to easy, and went in a back way that was extremely hard. Needless to say I exited this way, despite it being right next to the caretakers house.

My friend was recently caught down an entrance into an active subway tunnel. He was escorted out by a team of police, rescue workers, transit officials, and paramedics. They told him not to worry and sent him on his way. Then they put up the equivalent of a "Caution: Well" sign out front.

This didn't even stop me from driving my scooter around it (which you can see next to the entrance).
