New poster on UER and completely new to the PNW. I'm in Portland. I'm fine with Portland or Seattle. I'm up in Seattle quite a bit. It's easy to get there for me.

I'm back in Oregon after a 4 1/2 year hiatus in Virginia. I did a lot of UE up the east coast and am looking to get into it here at home. I'm down for pretty much any place that looks interesting even if it's high risk. Feel free to shoot me a PM and we can go from there.

Anyways, hope this convention pans out some time so we can maybe share some locations and get some good pictures.

How hard is it to bus up to Alaska from Washington?

Even though It'd be incredibly convenient for me if this were to happen in Washington, Alaska sounds awesome...

I highly recommend the ferry to Alaska. The Marine Highway system (AMHS) is awesome, and you can totally be a hippy and just pitch a tent on the back deck instead of getting a cabin. It's like the view and experience of a luxury cruise for a couple hundred buck instead of thousands. (if you do get a cabin or take a vehicle it's more expensive).

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

That's a terrible place to meet! The only time I went to Portland, was when I was practically molested outside of Voodoo Doughnuts! Your homeless are kinda crazy.

if i can get out of work this is on

"Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible to live without breaking laws."

We've moved the event to invite-only and are currently doing a final tally on confirmed attendees before the last round of invites go out.

I apologize to those who signed up on the event page months ago and haven't heard anything back from myself or the other coordinators. The response was a lot higher than we originally anticipated, and while we'd love to be able to handle 50-60 people, we have to think about the safety of the group.

The reason for this is due to the nature of some of the locations we'll be exploring and the logistics associated with pulling them off. We're not "closing" invites just yet, but we'd prefer that you're not bringing a carload of unknowns. While ideally we could host everyone, at this point in time we're hoping to at least have some form of vetting process that will help ensure that everyone in attendance is trustworthy and understands their responsibility to the group.

Again, I apologize if this comes as a surprise/disappointment to anyone here. Perhaps it's my lack of experience hosting that has caused me to become overly-ambitious with some of the explorations. I assure you that our intent was purely to create the best possible meetup, and not to exclude anyone (all the while making every attempt at avoiding any legal trouble).

Thanks.

That's fair, unfortunate but fair. I was however looking forward to there finally being an event close to me, so this comes as a bit of a disappointment. Well, maybe next time, good luck and have fun exploring.

yeah, crappy but guess that's what I get for not posting pictures on the interwebs. I was looking forward to meeting folks in the area.

Here's a suggestion for a place to meet and greet on Saturday if there's any interest. Probably will start wrapping up around 7 or 8pm and tallbike jousting is just like falling through a floor so you should all be good to go!
