|  | | | Has anyone ever encountered or interacted with a scrapper? What were they like , Age , Race , Apearence or Gender? What would you do if you encountered a scrapper?
Scrapper = Someone who steals metal , furniture , objects , doors , parts of houses that are of some value to salvage or sell such as historical salvaging and sale or sale to antique shops or other olde timey shops .
I DO NOT CONDONE OR RECOMEND SALVAGING AT ALL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM EVER , IF YOU ARE CAUGHT YOU WILL GET IN ALOT MORE TROUBLE THEN YOU ALREADY WOULD BE FOR TRESSPASSING!

they seemed jumpy...they thought we were cops....we had females in our group and they said something about our "lady friends" so we made sure they were safe....fuckin weirdos

Surprise surprise, he also turned out to be a tagger. I asked him the simple question: Why. "Most of the time when I do it, i'm fuckin' lit man." I would have turned him in, but with what evidence? He ended up getting fired yesterday because he welds like he's lit as well. If I see him in one of our local abandonments "being lit", i'm going to tie him up with his copper wire, leave, then call the cops.

I have had a couple death threats made to me and my group at a few places, and its no fun.
I once had a group of 6+ guys surround us, one shaking a gun in our faces, saying they were going to kill us. They went crazy asking who we are, and saying the place was theirs and if they see us with any of their metal we're dead. A few friends of mine have had the exact same experience.
Be weary of scrappers. Avoid them as best as you can, and if you cant, befriend them. Sometimes they tell you how to get in if shit get rough...

| | | | Gore and I encountered to very large ( Fat ) Italian dudes stealing copper at the CN Diesel Shop. I don't know HOW they both climbed up to the crane control booth, but they did. One came down and came up to me and asked if I worked for CN. I said "no" and he continued on his way.

I walked out back to have a smoke and caught them. I scared the shit out of em, told em to put the stuff back or I would call the cops. Felt like a real dick doing it but we use those parts and sell off the rest to get new equipment. They put everything back and tore ass out of the lot.

not that race or anything has to do with it but they were black guys one was probably late 50s and the other was in his 30s I guess. Drove a ragged ass F-150 and a trailer that was far from roadworthy.

| | | | I may or may not have gotten the guys I saw arrested. When the security guy found me and my friend I told him about the scrappers and described their vehicle. Since the only way in or out of this place is through a manned security gate if they were still on the property or came back some other time they were screwed. It was good stuff, I got to meet the head of security and build up some good will.

| | | | Here in Belgium we run into scrappers often, in most cases they are some eastblock scum to drives over here to steal the metal. In most cases they run off scared (because they are mostly illegal in the country) giving us the change to dump their stuff they scrapped somewhere they can't reach it anymore. I never had any problems with them because in most cases I'm not alone and we hear them faster they they hear us.
A 1000 days of sorrow can disapear in a split second, it takes only one person to make it happen. |

Nothing fishy about being on the property at 2am (on a weekend) with a pickup truck, no lights...and no work tools visible in the truck, huh?
Later we found out from the cops (and property manager) that they'd been looking for this guy for quite some time - knowing that he was rippin' off copper.
You can always tell when you're watching Canadian television - the actors in the show are the same ones doing the commercials. |
