| | | does anyone here know how much experienced scrappers can make in a day? it doesn't seem like it is profitable enough to be a full time job

| | | I've heard copper prices have dropped. Most likely due to no new major construction happening in the states right now. If someone is still scrapping, their fucking stupid.

| | | I agree. Copper is back down around $1.40 or so, where it was 2 years ago before the boom. Just like everything, what goes up must come down.

| | | I was in an abandoned building that I suspect of being a metal recycling facility the other day...Several thousand feet long, 800 feet or so wide, up to four stories in places, obviously abandoned for years. I had to laugh, the entire place was completely full of bins of steel and yet the copper was still taken from the electrical panels.
Won't you help me, Mr. Jesus, Won't you tell me, if you can When you see this world we live in, Do you still believe in man? |

| | | Met a couple of them on my second trip to Detroit, which is odd because we didnt run into any on the first or third trip. For whatever reason they were out in force then. They were all very nice, actually, just trying to feed the family...which is not that surprising given that I was in Detroit.

| | | I ran into some scrappers at an area of abandoned military housing, it was a few middle aged dudes with a silver station wagon. The drove past us down a street and I later found water rushing all over a houses floor from where they ripped out some pipes and the water heater. Security found us a few blocks away and gave us a ride to our car and on the way I told the guy about the house and the scrappers. He dropped us off but on our way out he came back behind us and asked if we would mind showing him the house with the water so they could shut it off and tell the head security guy what we saw. So we agreed and did all that, they were actually very nice.
