No, apparently people who have expressed an interest in attending by posting on this thread were suppossed to receive one. Ninj tried to send one to all these people.

I got my invite! Although apparently Hotmail didn't like it enough to leave it in my Inbox and it got relegated to Junk-mail, luckily I frequently check that folder! So I caught it in plenty of time. Looks great, and I can guarantee my attendance! I cannot wait.

I got my invite. I would have gone anyway, but was concerned that there would be no organization and I would end up in Toronto sitting in a hotel room all weekend, not knowing what was going on. Keep in mind, w'ere not part of the Canadian group, or the Minnesota group; Upstate New yorkers are kind of on our own here (me, Bizzy, Drie, Motts, Samurai, Equivokal, Zurns), sorry If I left any of you guys out.
This way we know what's going on . Thanks Ninj.

yay invites! I got mine too...Maybe we Upstaters should form an offical group? That way we can be as cool as the Minnesota folk and the Canadians. We could have our own private board and everything...

Panic?

I guess I'm so special that I got THREE invites in the mail. ;) Heh.

I've been thinking about the implications of this whole thing. It will bring together, for the first time in most cases, explorers who had never even seen each other, who know each other only by profiles on forums, to actually interact face-to-face. I'd compare it to a blind-date kind of deal; who have no idea what you're going to get, you just hope it works out alright.

Some of us will meet and hit it off with each other right away; for others, maybe it won't happen. It is a big step to go from a virtual persona to talking to an actual person. What you thought a person was like on-line and how they are in real-life might be completely different than what you had imagined.

I'm sure, besides seeing some of the actual faces I haven't already seen, that the biggest shock for me will be hearing the voices. Many of us have talked back and forth with each other here for months, and yet haven't heard the sound of each others voices.

Regardless, once this thing is come and gone, this board won't be the same in a lot of ways. We won't just be names on a screen anymore to each other, but real people who've met and talked and bull-shitted and so on. We'll probably share our stories and get to know each other better as people, and not just exploring-wise, but personally as well. Friends and maybe even enemies will be made, but one things for sure: the experience will change us. I know it will change me.

And let it also be said that I will work towards bringing peace between American and Canadian explorers. For too long we have been fractured on certain issues, and I resolve to broker a peace between our respective nations, for the good of all. ( Meaning: the end of over-heated Canada vs. U.S. threads. )

I'm there baby.

I was just wondering... for everyone who was planning on camping out, has there been any discussion about calling them up, making sure we can get sites next to/near each other, as well as the possibility of group rates?

and also... for everyone coming from the west, are we all still on for the mass-meet in Chicago?

Yeah I need to know what I'll be splitting with anyone else for lodgings. I need to budget my expenses here.

I assume the mass-meet is still go, now I just need any idea of who's in for the idea, so I can think of a good place to meet at at.

I am not sure whether we can make it to the Expo (due to odd work schedule) but I should register anway to be kept up-to-date, right? Hopefully we will be able to head north.

This is a question for Ninj:

Were any invitations sent to explorers who don't post here? I assume there were, seeing as how a lot of people don't post here that I think would be interested.
