Another shot from the pier, this time towards the middle of the pier. You can see more clearly the angle the bridge is fixed into position. This bridge was the first to cross the San Francisco Bay, in 1910. The pier I'm standing on has an interesting history itself. It was the original Dumbarton road bridge built in 1927 and had a lift-span and only two lanes. It was replaced in 1982 by the current Dumbarton, but a good bit of it remains as a public fishing pier. There are still road dividers and reflectors on the asphalt.
