Liking the videos but it's hard to tell if the camera is looking up or down. One of these days I'm gonna have to go crawling in mines with you all. Been in a couple mines myself, but none that big or old.

Yeah, I watched that Rob video like 8 times. (By the way, in my video you can see JMJ clunk his helmet on the ceiling but it's not a tenth so funny)

Also, thanks for posting the cave footage. Good stuff.

I actually watched all his links, then spent about 2 hrs watching his other videos on Youtube, and then other related videos, and then more. Damn that youtube!

The Rob one is priceless =D

There's some other great footage in your links too. I actually ended up re-watching the original Waterloo trip. Lulz.. we had a good time on that run.

Oh yea...Waterloo...good times! Yea, YouTube sucks time like nobody's business! Haven't heard Rob's thoughts on here yet...he's the one that told me to post it!

Man, I'd really love to acquire a great camera getup and get some really good footage of these trips.

Oh! I forgot to mention, you've seen Dav's video yes? A week or so ago he dropped by my place on his way through and he mentioned that he wasn't sure if you'd seen it. The link to it is in this thread, near the beginning. His video really is fantastic, he did a nice job of editting it.

Rob has only been using his iPhone for a while, so he may have to wait to see the videos until he can get to a computer somewhere. He's on the road a lot.

OOH! so I've enlisted not just one, but TWO geology professors for my mini-trip on saturday. And one of them is bringing a couple geologist friends from where he works. I'ma be the dumbest person in the whole damn group! It's a short trip though, we're leaving at 8am and getting back sometime in the afternoon. I supose depending on how it goes, I'll be planning more trips with them =)

:sobbing into pillow: "Why are they so mean to me?" But seriously, I laugh every time I see it and can't wait for the techno remix. Looks like it knocked off my helmet. Interesting thing is that on this trip I believe I mentioned to Dav I didn't think helmets were all that important in horizontal plains. I ate my words. It saved me a trip to the hospital.

Yea, I saw Dav's video...it makes me sick! Wish I had some nice equipment. But alas, I'd probably just slam it into a wall and drop it down a 100' shaft like at the Omega!

So I guess you've been on the road Rob? Did you ever put your pics up anywhere? I'd like to see them.

Haha. I scraped up the hood on my 16-35mm pretty good in the last caving trip. It's a good thing I don't, say, shoot weddings with it or anything.

Mike just msg'd me back on FB, he says:

I hadn't until just now. Sweet video! That took some time. You guys covered an insane amount of territory! It's weird recognizing so many places.

So there you have it. =)

The fella who is supplying all the lighting for the art show is giving it to me for free. Well, in exchange for learning how to repel. Funny thing is...you guys know how much of a cry baby I become when I do it. Sooooo...who wants to go back to the desert with us.

lulz. I always knew you were into that Rob. =D

**EDIT**

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to hit up any trips for a while. I've got that class starting on Dec 6th that's gonna take up most of my time (it'll almost be like I have a 'regular' job now), and it's supposed to have saturday classes strewn in there, so I'll have to see how that goes.

I did, however, just order these from Karstsports. =)

They're both UL/NFPA/ANSI/CE cert'd, and I can actually attach and use the croll on the harness as well. It has the 'fast' buckles, so you can don it while already geared up without having to step through the leg loops.

Attaching at that upper loop on the chest harness for a rappel is going to be comfy cozy. As long as the front V strap doesn't cut into your neck. It shouldn't though. I'm looking at chest harnesses as well, I may even make something from thick webbing?! Not sure yet.

Eh.. I'd rap from the lower point. Allows you to lean back as is needed during a well-positioned rappell, otherwise it's pulling your face into the rope and you can't get perpendicular to the wall.

I've used 2" webbing and spare slider buckles and QD's to add chest harness straps to my tree-working harness and other harnesses I've had. They aren't "load bearing", I mean, they aren't meant to connect to in any way, but they help to hold the weight of your harness properly when you have stuffies clipped on it, and to help it stay positioned. I think they're nice and comfy.

That new harness actually isn't meant for mining. It's gonna be a work harness for my entry into the wind turbine industry. The dorsal Dring and the upper front Dring are to tie into fall-arrest and secondary belay lines and such.

The higher point is nice if you're heavier chested though. Keeps you from falling backwards away from the rope.
