To answer your question about that place, I don't know what it used to be, but the only thing that's left behind the arch are the old foundations. Nothing that's particularly interesting, imo.

Hello

I just found this site about a month ago, and am quite impressed by the amount of detail in the database, and the apparent care paid to keeping vandals from using it.

I'm 16 and come from Eastern British columbia, and i have been UE'ing since i was 3 years old I regularly UE with a group of friends, and as soon as i become a more "priveledged" member i plan to add many of the sites we've found to the database.
Thats about all i can think of for an introduction, so back to exploring...

I thought I'd say hi, been browsing the forums for around half a year now, finally signed up.

But also, I was wondering if anyone (UK) here has explored Park Prewett Hospital in Hampshire. I should be going there this weekend sometime, hopefully get some photos taken (if this happens expect to see a few in the photo section).

Hi!

I've been to Park Prewett a few times over the last three years or so, but not in the last nine months. Things have moved along there from what I've heard, ground clearance, asbestos removal etc, in preparation for demolition and conversion work. Would be interested to see some current pics.

Our visit pages can be found here:

Park Prewett I

Park Prewett II

Look forward to your pics!

JD

Edit: Also see visit page on Urban Desertion site here:

Cheers!

I'm Tim and been exploring for art & photographic purposes for a few years, lots of rural sites, ghost towns, as well as some urban stuff. Now that I have a job that has me on the road 40 weeks a year, I could use info on sites outside my home area of SoCal.

I have already introduced myself (http://www.uer.ca/...page=20&pp#post380) but there's a long time I didin't came on the forum.

I modified some options on my profile and I was very surprised to find that option : "Display Gay/Lesbian Pride Flag beneath my name, to indicate that I am proud to begay/lesbian, or that I am proud to have friends/coworkers/siblings/children who aregay/lesbian." Is it obligatory to have that option on american forums or is it just a way to fight discrimination?

Absolutely not obligatory. Simply a way to show support for our fellow humans, something rarely seen in the states...so much intolerance.

by the by, this is a Canadian-founded forum. The forums themselves are frequented by folks all over this wacky blue marble.

take care,

~b

They're a lazy bunch of...

Anyway, Hi, am new to the site but not new to UE but judging by the intelligent people on this forum and lack of trolls I have decided to sign up.

I was wondering if anyone would kindly be able to inform me of routes for getting into abandoned tube stations.
Much appreciated.

So you sign up here a total stranger and the first post you make asks us to tell you about trespass on the underground?

In the light of the bombings last year anyone who gave information like that out to a stranger is a total fool. Even if i knew I wouldn't tell you.

Figure it out for yourself. That's what the Londoners have had to do, and I don't reckon they explore there much what with the terrorism and the being locked up for life and all.

Hey Ripper,

LU stuff just isn't worth the risk currently, my advise is stay well clear. I don't think you'll find anyone advocating exploring any part of the LU network at the moment.

Are you London based? What kind of locations do you explore? Got any pictures online anywhere?

Cheers,

JD

Yeah, since the tube station bombings, you might not want to be pokeing around down there.

Some guy in London was just shot today by anti-terror police. Granted, he wasn't trespassing in the tube, but it's still not worth the risk.

What is up?
Just found this website yestderday but I have been intrested in urban exploration for a while. Me and a few friends are starting up, but we live in a small town so we don't have too many places to go. Anyways just wanted to say that the forums rock and such. Also I am 18 and from Nova Scotia.

Ok so....yeah and sh*t...I'm Gypsy...hi ya'll...*waves*..I'm so fantabulously HAPPY I found this site today!

Thought I'm from Washington I'm mostly interested in SoCal locations (I hope to move there soon) and I've been especially interested in Ghostkilla's posts. Nice work.

I knew I wasn't alone...I knew I wasn't crazy....I knew others felt that inexplicable pull resonating from abandoned buildings...that ingrained defiance of 'No Trespassing' signs.

I have found my niche...and there's even a name for it 'Urban Explorer'....I could just say it over and over. LOL!

I love the beauty of abandoned places and have been exploring for years...since I was 12 or so (I'm 24). The only probably is that I currently live in a small town with hardly any GOOD destinations near (except some ghost towns)....and all the years I've been exploring I've taken barely any photos and the ones I had, have been lost! So as my membership proceeds I guess I'll be revisiting several places and taking photos for the benefit of you fine folks!

I haven't been in tunnels too much...my fascination is mostly with rundown places, especially old insane asylums. I have a "lifelong to-do list" for abandoned places (some of them are fading fast) which includes:

The Waverly Hills Sanitorium
The Ridges/Athen's Lunatic Asylum
Chicago's Uptown Theater
The Salton Sea
Philadelphia State Hospital at Byberry
The Kerouac Gas Station in Colorado
Portland's Shanghai Tunnels (I used to live there but never made it.)
And the list goes on......

For me, the Holy Grail of exploration would be "The Salton Sea". Which is the first place I'm going to visit when I move to California. I am very surprised that I haven't seen any posts about the Sea. It's the motherload of forgotten, abandoned and generally creepy ass places. Ever read Stephen king's 'Desperation'?...it's that kind of place. I have a pretty big collection of links for the Salton Sea and old asylums.

Anyway I hope to contribute alot of photos etc. to this site, spread some positive vibes and make some friends who finally understand my unique hobby.

Loves,
Gyp

P.S. Here's a little treat. I found this page awhile back...some kid found a hidden homeless settlement that's just amazing...the pictures just moved me when I first looked at them....I still look at them just about everyday.
Check it out....you won't regret: http://www.oliciv.net/mirrors/mapcore/
