Hurry, I hear there's still some intact Ikea furniture in there. That stuff won't smash itself! (Oh wait, yes it will, it's from Ikea!)

Nice, this place looks awesome. Gotta love that old industrial equipment rotting away. I bet there is too much to take pictures of.

That's actually a steam engine, not a turbine. The turbines are seen in the photo in the second thread post - they are along the right side of the hall with the large pipes on top of them. The generators are on the left - they are spun by the steam passing over the turbine's wheels.

The steam engine seen in this picture probably drove a pump of some sort; steam engines have a governor (the thing with the two balls on a post) that controls the flow of steam into the cylinder. The cylinder is offscreen to the left, hooked by a connecting rod to the crankshaft which turns the large flywheel as well as whatever load is connected to the machine.

WEEKLY SAINT PAUL FIRE & EMS BLOTTER

This feature we call “Fire & EMS Blotter” is a weekly update of the activities of the Saint Paul Fire Department.

During the week of April 14 thru April 20, the Saint Paul Fire Department responded to 603 emergency calls. Here is a sampling of some of the emergency and non-emergency activities from information provided by the fire department.

WAREHOUSE FIRE - On April 14 at 8:02 p.m. on the 300 block of Randolph Avenue crews raced to a vacant warehouse fire. The 9-1-1 caller saw kids throwing rocks through windows prior to the fire. It appears combustibles were placed in a pile and set on fire. This is the second fire in two weeks.

The forum says otherwise.

Anyway, thanks to the subhuman efforts of several individuals who should remain nameless, blameless, and without exposure to oxygen, sunlight, or the internet, juvenile tauntings, Tourette-like - and often scatological - outbursts, and other vaguely offensive non-sequiturs are now an unfortunate fact of life in the Midwest UE community, and all forums infected thereby.

You learn to ignore it pretty quickly.

Woah woah, Krenta and Danarchy spatting? What has UER come to?

Don't worry jjcool, UER is 90% drama, misinformation, and porn (the chat is usually 99% porn), and there might be about 2% exploring (mostly about which flashlights and ninja outfits to buy). The other 8% is discussion of members' cars and pets. Most people figure it out after they get flamed a few times for re-posting the same threads as last week

Turn off the internet and go play outside.

Had you been around more than a week, ETMJ says your face is pretty much anything. Ya kinda gotta be an asshole to fit in. This is where you say something about people's mom, and not about my sister being hot.

Not that it isn't necessarily creepy when anyone else does it, but telling people your own sister has a nice ass is definitely creepy.

Just sayin'.

I haven't actually met that many explorer's sisters... or moms, for that matter.

...but the ones I've met have all been pretty cute, I have to admit.
