Ahh Kowalski, Kowalski Kowalski.
You’re quite a character aren’t you. In the three or so moths I’ve been here I’ve seen you put down more people than the local dog pound has put down dogs in a year. Nice snide smart ass put downs too. Intellectual ones.

Well dude I have to ask you this. While researching my paper for university I did a little research on you, as you were listed as one of the recommended users to study. So I have read a lot of your posts. You paint yourself out as being a journalist hey, with some college degree. So I did a little digging, found your real name, which hey you make no effort to hide so that’s hardly cyber stalking. So I emailed some of the major players in journalism in Toronto and Ontario. I said I was interested in studying your work for a project and asked if you had published anything with them. I sent 11 emails, got 8 replies and they were all in the negative. So I started canvassing some of the magazines, alternative media and so on.

NOTHING. Zip.

Apart from one pretty mediocre online gutter press article I’ve seen nothing of your work, and no one in the industry seems to know of you.

So I have to ask you this Kowalski, if you’re the intellectual power house you claim to be, how come you can’t get a job with the reputable media? Could it be that they’ve all heard of how much an asshole you are?

Cha-ching!

Well you go back to putting down Noobs, if it gives you comfort. Because clearly you seem to have plenty of time to do it. I guess a lack of a real world life could cause that. Seriously dude, why are you spending so much time correcting people on the Internet if there's better shit to do out in the real world?

Yes professor,
your theory intrigues me endlessly.

I've given abuse and I've taken abuse. Sometimes I deserved it and sometimes I didn't.

I appreciate some guy on the other side of the world had a shitty day in the grind and needs to blow off some steam. Hey have at me if it makes you feel better. Close the browser and it magically goes away.

Hell, I was flamed on here but a moderator. Well, maybe not flamed but I was told (after asking what the best kind of flashlight to get) that I was "obviously not ready" to be a UEr. Doesn't seem too flaming to me but I HATE it when people are pretentious and tell me what I can't do.

I have not had that problem yet, but it will happen. People expect you to know EVERYTHING before opening your mouth, so ignore them and talk to people with a better outlook. I avoid the forum most of the time because of the stupid posts made against a innocent member, but I do not control that. Every place you go will have these people, just ignore them or find a way to get back without making a bigger problem (talk to a good Mod). I shall not point out any names, but some Mods can be nasty.

I think the flaming process is a dual edged sword. I think without it people would feel more free to post whatever crappy stupid threads they please, without any real consequence other then post deletion. I think in this way it makes people want to put up higher quality work so they don't get shit about it. I mean of course most of us say we don't give a shit about what others think... But if you really didn't care why are you posting it in the first place? Even if you just want critiques to get better, it requires criticism.

The only half way bad thing I can think about all the flaming is it purges those poor people who can't stand criticism anyway. And yea maybe a few of those people have things to contribute... but srsly, if you can't take criticism and some bashing on the internet, wtf person? And maybe it messes up some topics here and there... But I think a good strong topic should be able to withstand the flames no matter what anyway. People should stop being such pansies. And I mean on both sides. Flamers, stop hiding behind your computers, and complainers... stop being babies....

I seldom flame but I also seldom get flamed. Why? What makes me special? Coherent posts, the ability to agree to disagree, and by not taking the bait from people who only wanna rile me up anyway. I don't understand why it's so hard... (;-p)

I'd like to see a compilation of all the "can't we just get along" posts by thirteen-year-old members who've been here for three weeks. Imagine how many pages that thread would stretch to. And that's just a subset of the full scale of "posts by new members who don't realize they should just sit back and listen for awhile." (for which Origato's ranking is going to need an asterisk)

Kid, you're thirteen, you shouldn't even be here.

What?!?!! so theres some kinda of rule that says 13 year olds cant UE and join UE forums??? Id like you to explain to me why? why cant a 13 year old do the same stuff you can? huh? Age is just a number.

Well, 13 is just a number, sure, but (and I'm sure you will disagree) science shows that a brain is not developed or even capable of coherent, rational thought until about age 22.

Also, your presence severely increases everyone else legal risk.

So I have to ask you this Kowalski, if you’re the intellectual power house you claim to be, how come you can’t get a job with the reputable media?

I don't know, Origato, why can't you get a job as the captain of an oil tanker?

I've never attempted to get a job "with the reputable media," and haven't had any real interest in working as a journalist since, oh, second-year of university. Which was, hmmm, five years ago now? I'll be going back to school to do my M.A., a thesis and then another degree after that. When I'm not in school I've worked as a designer and copywriter, but that's just been something to pay the rent.

Would you like me to send you transcripts of my most recent grades, or some pdfs of my coursework? If it would help you, for your next Society and Culture assignment you can reference my undergraduate papers on the human security ramifications of electrical development in the third world, or the political economy of mining in South Africa. Riveting stuff, I can assure you.

I'm glad to hear you were so committed to your famous assignment that you chose to google-stalk me from the other side of the world though. That's serious dedication, and should be rewarded -- I'll be sure to invite you to the book-launch later this year. You can gather material for future book reports and referenda about Kowalski's life.

Seriously dude, why are you spending so much time correcting people on the Internet if there's better shit to do out in the real world?

I don't know, kettle. I killed off a pair of hiking shoes the other night in a fresh and very mucky bored tunnel 80 feet below the local CBD. This weekend I'm going to be doing field work for the above-mentioned book. I've made about a post per day in the time I've been here, and you've made about a post per day in the time you've been here. We should be soulmates or something.

Actually, yeah, I would be interested in this. PM me some stuff why don't ya. Now that I would be interested in reading. I have some cool stuff on wireless networking in third world countries that you might be interested in.

Now that is a far better use of an intellectual powerhouse than downing Noobs.

And who said I have not been the captain of an oil tanker? I've driven one, that's close enough for me.

Caution! This user is a wise ass and may use sarcasm.
