That's freakin' HUGE! Maybe not as big as the Cole Park Detention Vault, but... wow. Awesome.

I can't figure out how you got the blue interior and daylight-looking exterior and surroundings. Was it a super-long exposure at sunset, or is it multiple photos put together? Or do you prefer to keep your aw3s0m3 f070 s3cretZ to yourself?

I'm with ya' there RobertB. I can't make it come out like that either. And I wish I could. That photography still is really great looking. I love it. Rev and Imbroglio, good pics guys, good pics.

RobertB & Raticus,

Nope, this wasn't shot at sunset, and it's not multiple images merged. It's a straight, 30 second exposure, white balanced at 2500K to correct for the sodium vapor lamp about 50-75 yards away to the rear and left of the camera. It was a mostly full moon, but it was also mostly obscured by clouds, which made the primary external light source for the shot the SV lamp. I triggered the shutter remotely, from inside the structure, and immediately hid behind the plywood-covered door on the right and fired three blue strobe hits; one at the ceiling on the right end of the building, one at the ceiling of the center section, and one lower, toward the far-left end section. Everything that's in relative shadow from the SV lamp comes out a nice rich blue. The exterior didn't see any blue strobe, so it's lit solely by the SV lamp, which is the light source that dictates the overalll exposure time. In other words, the shot was 30 seconds because that was how long it took the exterior of the stand to be properly exposed at f/5.6. The exposure length had nothing to do with the strobe hits, except that I had to fit them all in in the 30 second window, which maes the overall exposure balanced.

Hope this helps!

Beautiful shots as always. And thanks for the guidance. A lot of photographers wouldn't share how they do such things. It's really cool that you are willing to help all of us get better with what we do.

I'll try that when I get a chance and let you know how it comes out. I don't have a wireless release for mine, I do have a "wired" release, but I'd probably have to use the 10 second timer, which might mean I have to run. LOL.

The trick with the white balance settings is what I have to learn to do, for a lot of different kinds of shots. I've been experimenting with it some, but just a little. I understand the idea behind it, just not really how to determine settings to get the desired results.

My best tip for white balance is to shoot in RAW format. It gives you the flexibility to adjust your white balance after the fact, in Photoshop's Adobe Camera RAW (ACR), which you can't do with JPGs.

You can supposedly change white balance in Photoshop CS but I've never tried it.
http://photo.net/d...kroom-forum/00AdLx

I DID try the "open jpeg as raw" technique but was NOT successful but I have PS7 and not CS.

I'm still fumbling with the XTI's internal white balance settings.

I have CS but haven't done a lot of RAW shooting so far. Some, but not a lot. I can see where RAW would be good for the pictures you shoot where you have time to work with it and get it the way you want it.
