i am familiar with the ones i use at home to bind wires and cables together.
i want to get a better picture of what item you are all speaking of having to explain to police/security.
are they huge or something? can't you put some on your backpack or tripod and say you bring them in case your gear falls apart?
i carry some ziplock straps with me in case i need to strap my tripod to my bag. i also carry medical tongs to pry film out if it gets stuck in my camera, and i often worry they might accuse me of stealing it.

These will work even better than regular old "single loop" cable ties to make a field expedite ladder!
Get the XXXX "ghetto rapper" size that way cops will know that your not huntin' little girls (or boys ).
You make be mistaken for a football player rapist though.

Nice.
I like my single loop ZipTies though. Mostly cause i do not have access to the double loop ones.. I also like the leave behindness of ZipTies. I can also get some for free from my friends work. I love free stuff.

When dealing about fence just do what i do, I take a small butane torch with me and any time i run into a tall fence i cut it with the torch and walk through, When im done and come back out i melt the fence back together, a butane torch is good because the flame is blue and is heard to spot so it lowers the chance of being spotted, and the great thing is that the torch can fit in my pocket.

post a video of this in action--unless that fence is plastic that is so much bullshit I think I might be sick. A butane torch is not hot enough to melt a fence in any reasonable amount of time let alone "melt" it back together... As an aside, whats up with the UE world attracting the gadget obsessed? I mean its one thing to carry a couple camera bodies and glass if thats your thing--they have practical applications in terms of being a photographer of UE related stuff... But all of this "gearing up" seems pretty silly to me--perhaps someone can explain it to me?

I know that Hunter36 is gonna kick my ass for this, but, we tried it and is didn't do shit! The torch I've got might do something, it's a propane cutting torch, all I need is a tank for it and a bag to put it in.
Do you think that'll do or would I need something with more "punch"?
It would really just be overkill though; to much weight when you can just climb the sucker and bend the top-end spikey projections down.

I was just putting it out there, the torch is gonna be used for something else and I was wondering if it could cut fencing.

after reading though all of this thread; there are some good, and some bad/very bad ideas (a torch? wtf). Though it seems like people over looked a good way over. This assumes you've already looked all around the fence for an already open hole, or an easy way under etc etc. find a stick a foot or two long that fits through the holes in the fence, put it through about 4 or 5 inches, about 6-12 inches less than your inseam from the top. have your buddy hold the end so you end up with something like this -|-----. climb up to the top, step over onto the other side, and let yourself down. when you're done you can just leave the stick there. (replace stick with, rebar, pipe, what ever is handy and around.)
