Q. What's the quickest way of getting Level 3?
A. Arrange to meet with a moderator in your area. If there is none, arrange to meet other Level 3 members in your area.

Well, this is ruled out for me I guess since there aren't many people around from Belgium.

Now I don't feel so silly for asking Av about that a few posts back. If you are thinking a question, chances are someone else is too, eh ?

You will be sorted out in Phase C, Uncle. I'd vouch for you anyways if I get L3, having met you.

Well, this seems to be far less likely to be abused. Far, far less. Good job guys.

Now I just gotta sit on my hands until Phase C.

You're gonna leave a lot of "appreciators" on the sidelines, many whom have donated scratch.
I'll assume I'll get the access; If I don't I don't really care, but there are many here who just appreciate what we do.

I can see this being the end of UER. If it's just a forum, then Mike Dig is right; He can do that much.

And honestly, what's the point, there are even some moderators who spend so much time on here I wonder when they get to explore anything.

Is anyone "real " anymore? Or has this become a computer/internet based community?

I'm having my doubts.

I shouldn't say that you should not be worried about security, but I think that people are taking themselves way too seriously.

There will be very few members left, guaranteed, so you can look at the "how to get up in this bitch " post from someone who is trusted all day long, but how long will you bother looking?

I got your tour winner right here pussies, at least he'd crash out trying.

Hey Av et al, just wanted to say i'm glad you're doing this system. The continual problem with with any type of UE boards or newsgroups-- all the way back to the old alt.college.tunnels newsgroup in the 90s-- has always been that they are potentially too public to discuss things of dubious legality, and this seems like a good way to do a system way to do a system that inhibits random public or other interested parties (like property owners) from easily accessing posts that maybe random public shouldn't have easy access to. Kudos to your programming skill. (even if Mark I didn't work...)

I totally agree. This new system bites. The people that we are fighting to keep off the forum have won. We've all become paranoid, and are now instituting ways to address the problem that will damage UER as a whole, and possibly destroy it.

Don't give them that satisfaction. Scrap this trusted program.

Regardless if I agree with the trust system or not, had the original rules of the Location DB, and the forum it's self, been enforced, would this be a problem?

I.E. Don't post location specifics, no pictures of entry points, no specific directions to a location, so on and so forth.

Anyway, I'm off to start building my UE resume I love the LDB and will miss it's loss. I just hope it's only temporary.

Could you elaborate on that statement (in an intellegent and discussion-building manner, mind you)? I don't see how you can interpret any of this as favoritism in any way.

If your statement is based upon the fact that all level three status grants are going to be approved by a moderator or administrator, then stop and consider this: The first implementation of the new trusted system allowed anyone to increase the trusted level of anyone else. This should have worked just fine, but too many people simply trusted anyone and/or everyone. They did this either because they disagreed with the theiry behind the system or they were simply idiots. Their actions completely destroyed the whole purpose of the system by introducing untraceable uncertainty and ambiguity. Since the whole of the community, regardless of how many good people there are present, has enough people insistent on screwing with the system that we have to go about it in a different manner.

The new system works similarly to the old system, but it makes the trusted status of someone carry a lot more weight and certainty, since every transaction will have a moderator's direct involvement. This is a good thing, and it will be to everyone's advantage if they could refrain from making unproductive remarks about how they think that this sucks. If you don't have productive feedback, ideas, or constructive opinions, please spare us from having to read about how you think this is crap. Most of the fears and assumptions that I have read in this thread are unfounded and based on people not reading the initial few informative posts.

The system will proceed in a controlled and logical manner, and nothing will be lost or thrown away. Accounts with a level two status will not be restricted in any way until the system has had some time to propogate out. In other words, we're going to try to get as much trusting taken care of as is really pheasable before anything (mainly the LD is restricted based on peoples' account level status.

Not my statement, but sure. Once more, an elistist society is being proposed on this forum. If you do not know someone, no trust, no matter what phase B and C is. Sounds good to those that will 'automatically' be trusted.

No, it did not destroy it. Everyone trusted their friends, whether they trusted them or not. If you can, look at who trusted who. Cliquey and elitest.

Never seen the old system, so I cannot comment on it. And it does not make the trusted status carry more weight and certainty, it only means that an elitist society will prevail here and that the 'terrorists' have won as someone earlier suggested. Everyone here is getting scared and trying to fix the system. I think it should be 'Doctor, heal thyself' and get rid of the people in here that are causing the problems. Then there will be no need for a trusted status. Also, put a bot in the programming to stop the database from being viewable from the internet.

There will be nothing controlled or logical about it, mods who will decide who is trusted, whether they deserve it or not. Just because they are friends. Personally, I do not ever expect to get 'trusted' because for one I am saying this and two, because I am new.

Once more, get rid of the problems here and most of people's fears here will dispear here also.

I have always said, We need some form of trust on this site, this is not a site, especially after 9/11 and other events, that you want just anyone on, you have people such as LEOs, Criminals (Vandals), Security Guards, etc... wanting to come on the site, and shut us down, charge us, vandalize sites, or lock them down so no one can ever see them again. I feel although this may not be good for some individuals, it will be beneficial to the site/community as a whole, and hey a lot of us already know each other, so it's not like it will effect us that much once this thing has been properly deployed, and all the bugs and kinks worked out. Well thats my little rant, some people will agree, some will disagree, but in the end it has to be done, and is 100% up to Avatar-X what happens. We may not win the battle but we will win the war.

yea, but I'm saying that because of that, what we do is in jeapordy, and the LEOs love using the new "could be a terrorist" reasoning because of 9/11... to tell you the truth, I actualy missed your post, didn't see it till after I posted mine.

Here's my 2 cents on this.

Have all members at Level 3 automatically and if proof is shown that the person can't be trusted, then that person loses their trusted status immediately. It's not perfect but may just help keep the forum open to existing members, weeding out those who can't be trusted and helping new members who will prove themselves trustworthy to establish themselves. In other words, "Innocent until proven guilty."

Gone for a while. Be back when I'm back.
