It usually turns on this time of year. Since its the winter a lot of people can't go out and explore(except for those in the southern hemispheres). Since everyone is browsing UER all day long tensions start to mount and fights get worse and worse. It will all heal up next summer

Sometimes, it's a good or interesting photo, but the porn makes it break the rules. Just like we'd edit the entry details out of an otherwise good post, we edit the porn out of an otherwise good photo. If the poster feels the photo has lost it's meaning without the porn, he's free to remove it.

Oh ok. It just seemed like there was/is an inordinate amount of complaining on the board the past few weeks, some of it had good foundations, but quickly got out of hand, just like this thread 
I guess it's good that I live in the South where it's about 65 degrees right now so that I can actually explore some shit without freezing to death

If it applies to images, it should state that. Although I would be under the impression the images belong the the person that took them, and shouldn't be changed without their permission.
As TZ said, all it would have taken would have been a pm saying "Can you remove or edit these"?

I would have to agree for any mods to ask permission or send a notification saying that "this picture will be deleted due to this reason" before altering or deleting the picture. This will greatly help to avoid any shit like this.
How many more threads and flame wars like this do we need before someone takes notice and says, "Yes, we should change the way we handle that to avoid future headaches and keep the forum's populace happy."
It's really that simple.

Perhaps you should change the rule so it defiantly applies to images and leaves no doubt whatsoever. Then it would be relevant. I would check the legality of making such a statement first though - you don't want to get rattled a few weeks, months years down the line. Or find the statement is meaningless.
Anyways, I'm fine with the end result - the pics are deleted and everyone is happy, right ? I know the mods are new to moderating the LDB and it's a hell of a job they have doing it (It's h00j!) but I really feel that the same common sense procedures that have been put in place for textual posts are also implemented for images - namely, automated 'your image has been removed or requires editing' messages.
At the very least this puts the ball back into the court of the poster to fix the photo or delete it - why should a mod waste their time in photoshop fixing others pics after all ?

Turbo, if the board won't apologize, and I have a feeling you won't get one... I wouldn't take it lying down.
Whoever violated Turbo's copyright needs to step up, be a man (or a woman), admit they fucked up and apologize.
Modify the rules to say that admin/mods have the right to DELETE anyone's images if they feel them to be in violation of the site's TOS.
And then I think Turbo would be happy.
No apology? Don't put up with it.
The law is the law. And it's quite clear when it comes to photography. And modifying those images without prior consent is in clear violation of the copyright laws of both the USA (where the server and site is located) and Canada (where the content is created).
Av, swallow your pride, and make that public apology. Do everyone a favour, before it gets out of hand and someone with a lot of spare time gets their lawyer to send a letter to your host.

Maybe if our mod crew was 100 people strong, we would have the resources to send a message for each infringement and deal with the resulting arguments personally. We have over 63,000 photos in the LDB. Assuming even just one percent of those photos needs to be deleted or modified, that's still 630 messages to send, 630 complaints to deal with, 630 deletions to follow up with if the poster doesn't respond.
There are only two LDB mods, and an incredibly huge workload that increases every day.
Face it, turbo: your posting of those photos broke the rules. You may not have realized it at the time, but it's quite clear now, and I see no reason for this discussion to continue.
(For the record, the moderators didn't have to take the files into photoshop or anything. There's a mod feature which allows a simple click-and-drag to blur out an area of a photo.)
Even an automated system for deletion of photos sending a notice is not an option -- deleting of photos cannot be undone, and unlike posts, there's really only three reasons why a photo may be deleted or censored:
1. The photo is of a pornographic nature
2. The photo is a duplicate of another photo in the location or in another location
3. The photo is completely black, or otherwise contains not even a smidgen of content.
These three conditions are not interpreted, they are black-and-white. A photo either meets them or it doesn't. Therefore, there should be no reason for an argument.
If I receive a letter from a lawyer representing Turbo or anyone else, I'll simply remove their photos from the site. I don't have the resources or the time for legal battles. We are not breaking copyrights, we're just upholding our rules.

On a more serious note: I think Turbo deserves an apology, the forum rules need to be changed, and this thread needs to be locked.
