Looks more like someone went "hey look a thread of pics of weapons, I'll just put mine up here".

No shit...they even went as far as to to put ranger plates on the pmag...why post this? Wrong forum...see ar15.com to show off firearms.

edit: it looks like the bolt on the rifle is locked back...the release is on a 45 degree angle, it should be flush up against the barrel assembly. wtf...

I just realize it *could* be an airsoft gun.

I found a Brittney Spears CD next to a wig, womens under garments, and a cot surrounded by heroin needles. I guess you could put the wig and womens clothes while blasting the CD and you would chase even the most hardened gang members away; that is unless they have a weird sick fetish Otherwise I guess you could stab them in the eye with one of the over 60 used heroin needles. Me n my crew also stumbled into a live meth lab in an old building once and got the fuck out, unfortunately the urge to not get shot outweighed the urge to take a photo so I guess we ran into a live bomb in a way and there was prob people that had guns nearby or they abandoned it.

What precautions do you need to take being around that stuff?

Depends on what you're dealing with.

Some stuff like blasting caps (detonators) can be set off by static electricity or dropping them, others forms of explosives are rendered useless by exposure to moisture.

Don't touch the stuff if you don't know what it is (ground yourself first if you're going to do it anyways) and if you smell fumes GTFO

Ground yourself?

... in a mine?

What do you want them to do, take their boots off and touch their tongue to the rock wall?

As for "what precautions do I need to take around that stuff", I ALREADY COVERED THAT!

Re-read the "Don't step on it" and "Don't touch it" parts. Over and over. Sooner or later it will sink in how you deal with having that stuff around.

The dude with the pink avatar left out how moisture also causes some explosives to become even more unstable. The presence of water, shock/friction/impact/heat/flame/pressure can set off certain kinds of unstable explosives.

Even a cough. And quite a bit of the stuff is completely odorless anyway.

So if you don't know what you're messing with or what you're doing, and you haven't studied the stuff and spoken to blasting techs; LEAVE IT ALONE.

tl;dr version: Don't fucking touch it or come into contact with it.

I found some ammunition in an abandoned house. I didn't take them, but the place was later looted and I'm not sure if they are still where I left them. It's quite possible that the guns are also hidden somewhere in there considering the general state of the estate, but I haven't dug deeper. They could be hidden in the attic.

A fellow explorer of mine once found a pistol, likely an illegal one, and disposed of it. Another fellow explorer found some artillery grenades while exploring old fortifications and notified the Defense Forces who came to pick them up.

Oh, and once we found a Soviet tank.

I wanna say the rounds on the stripper clip is .303 British. I also see .22 short

In Germany the older people just throw the Stielhandgranate just back in the lake in case they found one.
I wouldn't recommend this as explosives crystallize and can explode at any given moment or not at all.

Here I would just leave it, in Germany I would call the Kampfmittelräumdienst they are the bomb squad that goes only after explosives made before 1945

I carry a pocket knife while exploring, and a crow bar for man holes. I always carry a pocket knife so this isn't something new for me.

Explosives scare the hell out of me, and I am well trained in their use.
Hat off to you ...
I would have backed out before even taking a picture.

I don't think so.
Round looks wrong and the clip is not a common Enfield clip.
That looooong tapered bottleneck makes me think .30-40 Krag?
Could also be 7.92X57J or maybe 8x50R Mannlicher?

Some guy on the ..oh what's it called...pyrotechnics? Explosives? subforum, was setting up a device for some swat team or something and it went off, he got really badly injured.

Was that you or someone else?

Old stuff creeps me out, but the thought of old stuff that's PRIMED is acutely disturbing.

There were some sections in that mine that were ribboned off with signs that said "unexploded shot", which means there's still possibly primed/fused rounds ready to go that didn't for some reason.

Those strike me as excellent areas to give a wide berth.
