You don't need nice weather to explore....
+1. Most of my exploring is done in the cold. Water will be frozen which can make things cleaner and safer and less mouldy. Less random kids hanging out at spots in the winter, and with that, less security presence.

Hey all, I am new on here and have been a somewhat urban explorer since I can remember, going into or planning to go places with friends on whim. I have been to a number of old places pre demo in Winnipeg now, but only recently was directed to this site by a good friend. I am extremely interested in finding some new haunts or old ones and am here for the sole reason to learn and meet new people, of course. I realize that the page has lied more dormant than most places in Winnipeg do nowadays but I would absolutely like to revive the Winnipeg chapter with this response, even if it is just one other person. Or someone new to the sight who otherwise would have been hesitant to post or inquire due to the lack of life this thread is... Get at me, I am down almost anyday, almost anytime.

that building looks abandonded but its active and in use ur best to try and get a tour
it was first built in the 1870's and added onto over the decades when it was vulcan iron works witch shut down in the 50's and became wherehouse space and chemical factory toy truck yard. yard chemical storeage facility... bunch of other stuff over the years its owned by gateway industries so dont go messing around to much.
they also had a 2 more buildings witch were where the park across the st is now and an interesting fact the general strike started there.

Wow, thanks for the history on it 1ajs, and yeah, we looked around at it and realized it was still operational, also found out that they are demolishing a rather large building in the exchange right now, it looked too stripped to be interesting, just a little too late on that one I think.
