The raccoon is super cool! Those are some great shots of the two of them playing together!

Here is my menagerie.

Gryffon - A completely spazzy mutt that my sister found as a puppy lying in the middle of the road all weak and emaciated. We nursed him back to health, cured his worms and he's ours now.

Kaiser - German Shepherd/Mastiff mix from a local rescue group.

Kaiser cuddling his favorite cat, Tweek.

Tweek by himself in a sunbeam.

Mytheon hiding on the couch.

Kaeira (Kay-Ear-Uh) and Mytheon cuddling

Azrael in ferret-shock, with Jester to the right.

Kaeira & Jester sleeping under the futon.

Sadly we had to put Jester down just last week She was 7 years old, which is fairly old for a ferret, and she'd gone all bald and we were pretty sure she had a quickly growing tumor in her belly. She was a pretty awesome ferret and she will be missed.

Edit to correct wrong photo.

Quite an impressive family. So sorry to hear about your Jester, We do rescue work and have 5 dogs, 5 cats, parrots, cockatoos, skunk, two coonies, rabbits, and others. Some come thru and are released, some become family. We have had to put many down over the years. Some more painful than others, but it is never easy. I wish many years of good health and happiness to your family.

Thank's guys,

The rescue work is mostly my wife, I just do the heavy lifting and dirty work.
Nan, your little Pekingnese?? Is a twin to one that we had, She was very sweet.
Sadly she was killed in a fight with a pitbull. She had the attitude of a Lion, but the strength of a kitten.

Thanks guys!
Nan - You've got quite a huge family there! I really want to get a full Mastiff, but we decided we probably can't handle more than the 2 dogs that we have. I can't even imagine having that many at once! How do you keep up?

cr400- That's really cool about the rescue work! We've debated being a foster home, but decided we'd probably have much too hard of a time giving the pets up once they'd been with us for a little while. Most of the animals we have are strays that we've taken in. I've heard it's easier if you set it in your mind that they aren't yours to begin with, but I'm still afraid I'd end up keeping most of 'em!

After we found a home for Roxie, we found Truck.

A deaf pit bull. He found a home in Atlanta.

Then came Pete, a St Bernard mix who weighed 110 pounds. He was, truly, the best foster dog I've ever had. He was gentle, knew commands (sit, stay, roll over, beg, shake), loved the other dogs, was housebroken and didn't chew. The rescue I was working with found his original owner so he went back to them.

Now we have Kevin. Kevin's pretty cool. He know sit and stay, doesn't chew, and he's housebroken. The only problem is he has some dog aggression (not terrible, but not great either) that we're working on.

Foster dog update: done.

I like the ones where He is sucking my thumb and then sleeping. His energy is boundless, He will actually wear out two dogs playing, and then it becomes my job to finish him off. He has more jaw pressure than a dog, sharper teeth, and razor blades at all four corners. Though He is not mean, He does not now that pain is not part of playing. I have almost lost my eye on a few occasions, and I do my best to keep him away from my face.

Yeah!! thats not a coonie paw it is a 200lb Chimps hand, I put it in by being dumb, and then left it in by being to tired and lazy to swap it for the correct one. It was a cool photo we had of Mo's hand stickin' out of his cage, He's passed away now, so I just thought I'd leave it in.
Here is a few more.

I have a question for the rat people: Do rats learn their names? I ask out of curiosity more than anything.

i just got the 2 rats on the weekend, but i've been told that rats are the smartest of the "small pets" (hamster, mouse, guinea pig, ferret, rabbit, gerbil etc), and yes they will learn their names as well as some tricks..

I'd like to own a rat, but their tails freak me out. Mila looks like a sweetie, by the way.
