Let's meet your pets...
< on 11/15/2008 3:17 PM >

I looked briefly at the past threads and didn't see one like this posted yet. If I missed it, sorry. I'd like to see what everyone's furry (or not so furry) family members look like (I'm talking your pets!)

Here are mine -

1. Lilly is a 11 month old shepherd/husky mix. We adopted her at 7 months from someone who couldn't keep her. She's a very smart girl.

2. Thomas El Gato was a stray we found in Oakville. He's very large and I'd guess about 5 years old. He's the most affectionate cat I've ever met.

3. Heaven... my daughter got her from the animal shelter when she was just a kitten. She's about 5 or 6 now. She's not very social and hates Lilly.

OH this thread rules!

I have one pet, Lucy. I used to HATE cats - but when my husband who traveled nonstop for business said we should get one - I decided, what the hell? (we couldn't have a dog in our apt at the time).

Anywho - here she is, my LUCY-face.

Misha is an over-sized Pomeranian

Kirby, the Sun Conure

Chester the Pekingese last Christmas

Pretty is a parakeet that I caught that was flying around my feeders

Hudson is a dog I found in the ghetto on Hudson Ave. He was starving and a total mess but he was still as sweet as can be

And a bunch of fish

Buster on the left, Millie on the right. They share a mother. Millie's father is their older brother.

Here's the love.

And back in Canada, Mickey.

I wish I had fish. I just spent $200 on this heifer.

Whose name is Lily.

I also have Gordon:

Who is very serious.

And Casper:

Who is very old (seventeen).

Plus Killdozer:

This is a baby picture, but he looks like this now only 70 pounds.

This is Hannelore, my roommate's kitten who I rescued from the parking lot of the hotel where I work.

My other roommates have a cat, too, but I don't have a picture of him. He's very large and named Dante.

We also do foster care for homeless animals.

This is Roxie, our current foster.

Cole is a Great Dane/Pit Bull who we had before Roxie.

Lilolz came before Cole, and I was truly sad to see her go.

Some German Shepherd mixes came before Lilolz. They were all asshole puppies. They'd just come to the house when I took the last picture, I didn't keep them all in the same crate.

These two beagle puppies came before the Shepherds in the same load as Killdozer, though certainly not the same litter.

That's a great bunch of animals! I use to foster animals too but as a result I ended up with a house full that I couldn't part with.

I don't have them all at once! Right now, we only have five dogs and two cats. Hopefully soon, it'll be 4 dogs and two cats when Roxie finds a home.

My sister had to have surgery on the same day I took in a new litter of puppies, and I volunteered to watch her dog. NINE fucking dogs in the house for three days. Nine. It was crazy.

I kind of have two households of pets: my house here where I live with my fiance, and my parents place in Vermont where my family pets live. First, my household:

Marilyn, the little fuzzball who we've had since the day she was born, and who loves to cuddle:

Cy, who wandered up on our doorstep one night and got to stay because she was such a bad cat that I didn't think anyone else would want her:

"Black Cat" a.k.a. Oldcat, a really ancient old lady who has lived in the woods behind our house since before we lived here and who took me six months to tame; she's a sweety now, though, she sounds like a frog when she meows:

The Kingsnake, a wild-caught eastern that we've had for about two years after a friend couldn't care for her anymore; she's about four foot and very friendly but a very poor eater; she likes pockets:

My snake, a Florida Blue Garter named Osceola, about two years old and I've had her since she was four months; this is an old picture and she's a lot more blue now:

We also have an adult Bearded Dragon, but I don't have a recent photos of her.

And my parents' household:

Mike, the "family dog;" big, sweet, dumb, protective mutt:

Zelda, a really loving and incredibly smart Lab that my Mom rescued from an abusive situation; here she's attacking me with love:

My almost-12-year-old baby, Teddy; he doesn't do much but lay around the house and beg for tummy-rubs these days, but he's still pretty healthy:

My little sister's butterball, Oscar, who hardly ever makes a sound but is a total ham:

And Blackgirl/Mommacat, Marilyn's mother and a ruthless killer of all things small and fuzzy:

Jackson my golden retriever. Hes a rescue from the local pound came completely trained to walk on a leash, ride in a car, stay in the house, sit, stay and all that good stuff. Someone spent a lot of time with him but I don't know how he made it to the vet. They found him near the interstate and guessed he may have ran off when his owners stopped at the rest stop. They even ran an add in the paper for 2 weeks but no one claimed him. Oh well I'm glad to have a good dog

Violaine (named after the Cocteau Twins song), my girl kitty. I rescued her from the local shelter in 2006 when she was about 1 year old. In fact, that whole first year of her life was spent at the shelter. No one wanted her and I adopted her just days before her scheduled termination. She's a loving, wonderful companion. I think she knows how close she came to the end. These days, she spends time in the back yard, even in winter, chasing birds. A lot of the time, Violaine is as she is in the above pic - exhausted from a day of doing nothing.
