Greetings from Finland,

After around 15 years as a lone wolf in urban exploration, I decided to join the community.

My urbex story started in my teens, when I visited a small village near my old childhood home after many, many years. There, in the middle of the place was an old abandoned building. I had no memory of it from childhood, but for some reason or another, I was horrified of the sight of it. I was later told it was a former slaughterhouse.

A while later I began experiencing serious issues in my life, and had recurring nightmares about the place, which always ended with me running to the building and standing on its doorstep frozen in fear. I told my friends about the nightmares, and they tried to convince me to enter the place. They even accompanied me to the village several times, but the result was no good. I was standing in front of the driveway frozen in fear.

Finally my friend had had enough. She bought a whole lot of wine, came over to my place and said that I should drink myself brave. When I was drunk enough, she drove me to the village in the middle of the night, and I finally managed to enter.

A year later I returned with a colleague to explore and photograph the place from basement to attic, and I realized what a wonderful place the world of abandoned buildings was. I began exploring other places, too, when I heard of them.

When the pandemic hit, I had time to go through my archives, and realized, that I had tens of thousands of photographs from dozens if not more than a hundred abandoned, doomed or partly demolished buildings. I started a blog telling my urban exploration story, but things literally got out of hand. I built a website around the blog, bought a new camera and added 5000 photos from around 70 abandoned sites to my gallery this summer alone.

And here I am sharing my stories with you.

Hi everyone, registered a little while ago but haven't really gotten the ball rolling with establishing my presence here so I figured to start now. I'm located in Western MA. I've always been interested in UE (without knowing the term) but it was during the 2020 summer where due to covid and needing to think of ways keeping things exciting sans crowds and everything being closed my friend and I really leaned into it. I'm having him send me pictures so I can post some of our exploits from 2020-current. One of my favorites was Dundas Castle in NY. I have always regretted never getting in the Northampton State Hospital if anyone has good stories to share of that place I would love it. Thanks everyone!

Hi all-

I am a hiker and game dev. I really like abandoned spots because they some of the only art you can find that isn’t pandering to consumerism. English isn’t native language, but I am in PSW in the states.

Hope to find cool people.

Hey y'all!

I'm extremely new to the UrbEx community, though I've wanted to explore abandoned places for quite a while. Now I have the autonomy to act on it!
I'm a student in the Phoenix AZ area, (I'm studying Music Production) and I'm really excited to explore and check out history firsthand.

Can't wait to get to know y'all!

Hey!

I made my account here a while ago but forget about it and recently decided to try to get into it again. I recently moved from Ontario to Nova Scotia and decided it was a good time to make myself known on UER.
HYPED to get to meet some people and explore some places!

Hi all,

The name's Flenser, I'm a trad goth from the midwest and I'm new to the site. I love vampires and overall spooky stuff. Ever since I was a little kid I've had a fascination with all things abandoned. Buildings left behind to slowly decay and be reclaimed by mother nature have always held a sense of captivating a deep, haunting beauty for me. Exploring and capturing these places and their memories as they're being slowly forgotten via photograph has been a passion of mine for a fair amount of time now. I hope to use this site and forums as a way to share this hobby of mine, and to interact with folks who feel the same.

I look forward to meeting y'all!

Hey, I’m Dav.

Got busy with life, but I’m getting back into photography. I like dirty places and broken things. Used to skate a lot, body’s giving out on me now. UE’s what’s been keeping me active the past few years.
Definitely into the recreational trespassing aspect, never been a fan of being told what I can and can’t do. Always up for a challenge!

Hi all,
I'm Torakirux from the Montreal, Quebec area.
I'd been interested in Urbex for a long time, living in a city with so many great places in plain sight to see. After hearing about people exploring those places, I always dreamt of being able to visit myself one day. Have looked at pictures of videos though, gets the wanderlust going every time.
I'm super fascinated by people who go into the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone to explore, the stalkers, although apparently the penalty for getting caught is much more severe now.
I've never personally met any explorers so I hope to slowly get into the community via the forum and to learn about urbex.
So far I've only visited places where I had permission or a tour through contacts, but I've got to see some in service places' hidden bowels that would be impossible to see otherwise.
Happy safe exploration to all!

Urbex Newcomer Here!

Hello, everybody. My name is Elijah Hallberg, I'm 19 years old, and a newcomer to the urbex scene. I also live in the Northeast of America. As of now, I have next to no experience at all with urban exploration. I've always loved abandoned places, from pictures of Chernobyl, to post-apocalyptic games like "The Last of Us", there was always something so captivating about it. There's something... sacred about these kinds of places. From the few excursions I've made, it always felt like some sort of spiritual experience, like walking into a dream. I'm saving up some money for the necessary equipment needed for these expeditions, and I've been browsing Google maps and the UER database for anything near me. I have some places bookmarked and will start making trips soon. Before I start, however, I need to educate myself on how to explore these places safely, and find a partner to come along with me. I'm very excited to be here, and I hope that I can help all of you find new places to explore!

I'm Floff, I've lurked here for a while but never actively participated in the community. I enjoy Urbex and the feeling that you're viewing a place after the fact. I hail from the great cold north(ak) but am currently residing in the Denver area. Since I've moved I've had little luck finding places to explore(mostly due to time restraints). Hopefully, I can ad to the community as well as learn from it.

Hello hello, I go by EarConsent online, we've recently gathered a group of friends to go urban exploring with. Some of us were high school friends, some met at work, some we even ran into while urban exploring. We're a little new to this whole thing, and there isn't much to find in the big city we're in, but it's always exciting to have new finds. I'm here to see what cool places you all have found in your hometowns and whatever stories you have to share. Hopefully I can stay a lil active here and share what we've found so far.

Hi everyone
About a year ago, I met this girl. And she was really something, let me tell you: gorgeous, with a great sense of humor, adorable smile, etc. She was a year above me and so we only had one class together but in that time she managed to introduce me to Urbex. Even though things didn't really pan out with her the way I wanted, my interest for urban exploration is going to stick around. I'm from Houston, by the way. My biggest outing so far has been in the underground business tunnels downtown, which was pretty cool. As for future trips into the unknown, I'm hoping to go down a few drainpipes and maybe visit the silos by the bayou. See ya'll around. Or not. It all depends.

Take nothing but photos; leave nothing but footprints.

Hello everybody (:

My online alias is Headstomp but you can call me Zach. I was always fascinated with exploring abandon structures and sites but never really had the courage to until recently. Currently I've only been to a couple locations in the STL area and planning a lot more. I'm working full time right now so I don't have a lot of time to actually go anywhere. But once I save enough money I'll be able to start working part time and have a lot more time.

I'm wondering if anybody has any interesting locations in the STL area they're willing to disclose? It'll mean a lot!

It's nice meeting all of you hopefully!

(:

Hello! I'm new, and excited to be here!

I used to explore abandoned/odd places when I was younger but didn't know there was a term for it, and also didn't have a camera back then. I'm hoping to pick the hobby back up!

I am in the upstate SC area, and have heard of a few places to check out already

Hi, you guys! I'm Ali!

I created a profile here about two months ago, but honestly never got up the nerve to post anything. But! I decided today was the day!

I've been urbex'ing since about 2005. I grew up in NJ and did a whole bunch of stuff on the East coast, but now live in IL and am having a ton of fun exploring the Midwest. It's a totally different type of exploration out here, but I absolutely love it and honestly, it's kept me sane during the pandemic.

I'd love to hear from other people in/around IL that would be interested in meeting up! :)

Hello all,

My name is Rich and I live in the Albany NY area. I used to Urbex a lot in my early teenage years but took a brief hiatus till recently. I am almost 20 now and would love to here from some fellow urbexers in my area as none of my current friends show interest in the hobby and as I have grown older and wiser I realize I should have at least one person with me. Hope to hear from you guys : )
