I've found various dead animals, strange fungi, bloody clothes, bones, teeth, bone fragments, and years old food. It's a given. though the coolest thing I've found is is an abandoned wasps nest built around a chair.
no god! please no! nooooooooooooo |

Myself and a friend went to check out an old church from the 1800's and when we walked inside there were piles of bat shit everywhere. That is about the grossest thing I have seen while exploring. (I am still fairly new to it.) Also since the title of this thread mentions funny things I am going to throw this one out there. On the same trip we checked out this old party house that has been completely destroyed and it overlooks a quarry. From the hill, it looks like a kid riding a bicycle but we went down there and it turned out to be this. 1.

Give abandonment a reason for its sacrificial reclamation to nature. Love it. Remember it. Take a picture. Share it. Leave the decay to nature. Lifetime member of The Anti-MyInstaTubeTweetFace consortium. |

I'm playing with the dead again. No apologies though for resurrecting this thread
Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in. |

Wow.... Went through the entire thread and damn that was a ride from start to finish. Has anyone ever kept and cleaned any of the bones they found?

Only if they were already mostly picked clean, I've tried to take animal bodies I find before only to find them too far into decomposition to be worth the work. Shed snake skins are always wonderful to gather but I'm always scared the snake is still around lol. If you really want good bones look for crevices a dying animal would find safe, like under furniture, in closets, etc (Let it be noted: no matter how long they've been sitting there, old bones are probably so intensely gross. You have been warned.) However, abandoned places are wonderful havens for all types of bugs and make for a fun time collecting if you like those types of things. The opportunities for taxidermy and bone collecting are huge in urbex, but I've yet to find anyone who really does both even though the overlap in opportunities is great.

was exploring solo and when I went into a room I saw this disgusting mangled mess that looked like a literal sack of crap dressed as a person. Ten minutes of screaming and pointing later and I realized it was just a mirror.

The evil black cat. Vile to the very end... destroyer of seats.

I've found: Used condoms, needles, shanks, boob holders, dildos, human shit, dead animals, porn (both gay and straight... I found gay porn in an abandoned school once), I've walked in on people having sex in buildings before, I've encountered tons of different mold and fungi... I'm probably forgetting some things. for some reason some abandoned buildings have hay piled up in corners... I've encountered it in quite a few structures. I assume its animals or something. also found bones in places and of course rotting food & drink.... Honestly my most "interesting" rotten find was a grease pit in a basement full of decades old grease.... if it was a hot summers night I'm pretty sure that thing would have STUNK. it was winter though thank god.

If your uncle Jack were stuck on a roof. And he asked for your help. Would you help your uncle Jack off? |

This dead deer/mammal is pretty gross looking to me. Discovered while out taking pictures. The head looks almost hallow to me hence the empty open mouth and eyeball missing that looks like a hole. I almost wonder if the guy was shot due to uncertainty why there is a round hole in its upper belly. Anyhow its also interesting and photo pleasing that the guy decided to take its last breath/exhale on top of beautiful green weeds. 1.
Edit: Another one to add with in the same post. A gross sh*t edged wet then dried toilet paper roll in a forest. I'd use leafs over it personally if I ran out of my toilet paper, and couldn't find any to buy or borrow elsewhere. Straight up. 2.

Sad to say I didn't sniff it to confirm my suspicions but I'm 99% sure this is almost a full gallon of piss

Any mountain lions in your area? Big cats store their kills that way.
"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there. |

There are mountain lions in the Adirondacks.

Absolutely. They tend to avoid humans with a passion... as it should be.

Well I am glad they will avoid humans. I'll tread carefully next time I see this kind of thing

If you see one that's not running away from you, you have a problem, They should be long gone before you get within a hundred feet or more. Never run from one. Never turn your back to one. These are apex predators...
