| | | Exit #0, Glenrio, Texas < on 1/5/2008 11:44 PM >
| | | I'm a new member here...thought I'd share some of my pictures, starting with a place out on the Texas / New Mexico border near a town called Glenrio. It's a Route 66 ghost town now, but if you take the westbound exit off I-40 there, you'll find this pair of old, abandoned gas stations decaying there. Hope you enjoy these; if you think they're not appropriate or too artsy, let me know.

So are you from Texas or another part of the south?

| | | love the flickr pics! I am a certified route 66 and drive in movie theater fanatic. And seeing those mobilgas pumps made me cry a little, I had one of those globes but it was broken the day after Christmas......on my damn birthday

| | | Thanks again for all the kind comments, and the warm welcome to UER! Happiedaze - Thanks! If I'm not out in southern New Mexico shooting on the 19th, I will definitely try to make it. I certainly would like to meet some other folks with similar interests...I've been pretty much flying solo on this urbex/night photography thing so far. musket boy - Yes sir, I've been out to Echo Lake twice now...it's an awesome location, a real playground for light painting. I've got a whole set posted on my Flickr page from there. Thank you for sharing your excellent images from there..they were a real inspiration for me! SilentSearch 0 I wish I could, but it seems that this is as large as PhotoShop will render them and still be under the 100K limit, and I admit I haven't really investigated other resolution or bit-depth possibilities. Not sure how other post their's so much larger...any tips? Bustedknuckle - Thanks! That's a damn shame about your gas pump breakage...those things are very cool. If you want another one or two and you're in the DFW area, there's a closed bank in downtown Garland that resides in an old gas station building, and both it's gravity pumps are still there and in excellent condition...I'm not saying go steal them, of course. Contact the bank and make an offer! I think it was a Guaranty Bank. LostAmerica - Well whad'ya know...another familiar character! You're like my third Flickr contact to call me out since I hit the UER site. Thanks for the kind words! Barry Kooda - Thanks for the comments! And though I've never met you, from what I've seen, you surely don't suck!
