Ahh, I just meant buffalo, not Niagara, but I'd definitely look on superfund.org and do a google search to see if it yields any bizarre-o results. And with that, I'm gonna be happy to try my new rubber/nitre cotton gloves tomorrow!

| | | Posted by yokes I did more reading on Carbo-Sil... it seems they used "Silicon Carbide". When I looked this material up on the materials data sheet, it didn't seem particularly hazardous. Does anyone here know if that is the same as Carbon Silica (referenced in the original email)?
|
It is different, just search carbon silica, silica is different compound from silicon. Apperantly its used in rubber making but I think the problem is byproduct. As for the ground sponatiously combusting geez friggin narsty! Shreddie, whats your fascination with the place? You do know there's tons of sites in Niagara and buffalo which aren't this bad, right?

So be safe.

Either your friend is full of shit or thinks we must be pretty fucking stupid. There is no such thing as "Carbon Silica" in the form that your friend describes it; a dangerous PATHOGEN with a half life? Uh, okay. Firstly, a Pathogen is a biological agent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pathogen And a "half life" generally refers to amount of time for a quantity of something (generally radioactive) to reach half of it's initial value. I have never heard of a radioactive biological agent called "Carbon Silica" and neither have any of my friends. There IS a substance called Silicon Carbide, aka carborundum, which is used as an industrial abrasive agent. It's harmless. I REPEAT: Silicon Carbide is NOT "CARBON SILICA". And you fools, Silica IS the same thing as Silicon Dioxide. It's damn silica sand. So take your bullshit claims elsewhere. [last edit 5/19/2007 7:37 PM by Rust - edited 1 times]

If you'd pick that over beth Steel of Spalding, and a shitload of other cool spaces, so be it! UE'ing dangerously...hmm, anythings dangerous if you act like a n00b.

Since we're tossing the "noob" word around here. Not knowing the other Bethlehem Steel locations, especially the one closest to Toronto, is a pretty clear indication of "noob" status.

You obviously don't have a sense of humor. Just so you know, its near Carbo-Sil which is why I suggested it. Its not nearly as raunchy, and much more interesting. You have full user status so I can't believe you have never even bothered looking for it.
