| | | Posted by HungarianSM Do you guys think It's possible to climb a crane like such?: http://i1086.photo...ngariansm/0084.jpg Im dont see any apparent ladders or stuff, and the operators cabin is at the bottom....
|
The trick with these is to climb in a corner. You need to wedge you feet between the diagonal braces and the vertical supports. Note that these are harder to climb down than up. (in my opinion)

| | | Of all the things, this would scare me the most. On the camera bag thing, I've climbed the inside of a bell tower and the last 40ish feet of (frozen) ladder where caged. My camera bag is pretty thin, and it was still hitting every once and awhile. I've climbed a few tall ladders though, watch where your feet go and you'll be fine.
I live in the 'burbs with a major lack of abandoned buildings. |

| | | You guys are lucky... Not only did you climb a crane but the worst you got was your name in the database? All I had to do for the aviation unit to do that to me was walk across a helipad. When I was later searched up for something different, I came up clean though so who knows what this db thing really is? Although, to be fair, they were both different branches of police, so don't take my word for it.

| | | I got put in a database once. I wonder if its a generic, "we're punishing you with something vague and mildly imaginary to scare you" tactic. If I am never heard of again, they're probably watching me and it's not imaginary.

Your security measures were inadequate. How unfortunate for you. |

The operator lives at the top. On the plus side though, that would be eight hundred and nineteen meters of pants shittingly epic climb. [last edit 4/23/2012 12:42 AM by Tastee-Freeze - edited 1 times]

apparently the commute to the ground takes too long for it to be worth his while. He's been up there for months, they send him up food by way of worker.

| | | Apparently he actually get's paid fairly well for a worker in that area, around 30,000 Dhiram a month, as opposed to the usual wage, which is a lot lower than that, I think it's about a thirtieth. He also might just like the view.

Still lower than a Canadian crane operator's salary. Would have thought the tallest building in the world would pay a little more than that regardless of what country it's in. Also, I agree. I'd do it for the view + living expenses(tent, food, beer, greenery).

As I said, most of Dubai's buildings are constructed by slave labour. He must be skilled/educated/trained very well or something.

Get high, quickly; you'd be surprised how few people look up - and how hard it is to see someone climbing in a metal lattice. You're pretty safe on the way up or down, If you're out on the boom stay in a crouch as it is really easy to get silhouetted. EDIT: you your you're you are [last edit 4/25/2013 6:25 PM by AdventureDog - edited 1 times]
