It's still foam, it's not impossible reopen it. FYI: Spray paint melts some types of foam and foam can be cut out with a good knife too. Just might take some time in the middle of the night. -ZM

| | | They've been using some kind of magic purple stuff down here to block entrances into our steam tunnel. Due to budget cuts, they've halted construction of some of the new buildings. The access for the utility/steam tunnel had already been cut into the 18" concrete tunnel. Not wanting to leave these holes open for late night student infiltration, they used the purple goo to seal them up. I've heard that when they want to re-open these access points, they will re-cut the concrete and make the doorway a couple inches larger, as that will be easier than trying to cut thru the purple goo. I blame NASA for this............

| | | problem being that after the foam settles they tend to pour over the cement & dirt. so there isn't a lot of the stuff on the outside of the hole, even less of it now. the bit we brought home was more of a clear blueish color & much more gooey than it is now. it also burst the Tupperware we stored it in. 8( here's a better take on the technique: http://www.foamcon...ine_features.html# -madcap
i am the other yourself. "Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices? I've heard them calling my name. Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors. Then he'd have nothing to sleep with. Once you've slept with a boom stick, teddy bears just won't work anymore. [last edit 8/11/2011 2:31 AM by cr400 - edited 1 times]

Not the Tupperware !!! LOL, have you tried exposing it to paint thinner, spray paint, gasoline, nail polish remover, or other chemicals ??? It would be nice if there's some sort of reaction we can take advantage of. -ZM

This info is on their MSDS for the 2 materials you combine to create the material. Looks like CO or NO should dissolve the material. -ZM

Government report on the material, there is a solvent that can dissolve it, but it sounds like it would release some toxic fumes in the process.
Anyone got any good toxic solvents ??? -ZM

| | | Have been Emailing Chris @ FoamConcepts about getting the old mine in the back of my property sealed up to keep the kids out. I explained how it was foamed b4 by one of their competitors & I wasn't happy. The kids got in again. I asked about their purple product seen on the news. Apparently that stuff is not available to the public as of yet. It is a 3 part mix & cure not yet approved for consumers. They can only use it on government projects & also involves an epoxy rebar cage for strength & support. He equates it to a rebar reinforced concrete wall. He was supposed to send me a video of the process that also includes multiple tests of its strength. Let ya know what I think when I see the vid.
The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us? |

| | | This was as close as I could find of the purple stuff used in the tunnel. They said trying to cut thru it just gummed up the saw and blade, that it was easier to just sawcut the concrete around it........Sounds crazy I know!!!!!
Sorry, wrong video.........Fixed. http://youtu.be/GJX_0wEK6OM [last edit 8/12/2011 3:08 AM by cr400 - edited 1 times]
