| | | Nothin so far. Did have a weird dream where I was choking to death in a small tunnel full of asbestos. The next day I was exploring some tunnels, illuminated the walls with my flashlight then discovered I was surrounded by asbestos. Pretty freaky, but didn't get sick.

Dukes got pretty ill a few years ago after finding the lab at national lead in Tahawus. It lasted a couple of weeks. I think Skelly might remember that. I don't think that Dukes even knew what caused it or what it as all about.
|
Oh yeah, I remember that. He was totally puzzled at why I did not get it. That whole lab was weird anyways.

| | | I was in an Asbestos filled Hospital for about an Hour. Even though I covered my mouth/nose with my Sweatshirt Hood. I still managed to breath stuff in. That caused me to become Ill for the next two days...just a bad headache and lack of appetite. No Fun

| | | Just a cough from some mold and dust, nothing big. If I was going somewhere with asbestos I'd have a respirator on, so unless something happens like that freaky hand incident I think I'll be fine.

| | | I've gotten hives several times, itch like hell but that's it. I'm allergic to dust so I end up sneezing a lot, and if you've ever heard my sneeze you know it's NOT a good sneeze to have when you're trying to be quiet..or near cops DX I managed to slice my foot open on a weed on the Roc meet in September. I find it infinitely amusing that it now has a scar.

Wow I Heard covering Your mouth with a Sweatshirt was the Best way to Keep out Mesotheliomas but I Guess you probably Actually breathed in Too Much dust or Mold and it Wasn't the asbestos that Gave you a bad Sickness, particularly since Black Mold is actually highly Toxic and you're at Higher risk of Short Term side effects. If worried about Asbestos fibers next time I Might recommend an Asbestos-rated Respirator but it's really only to Help with long-term Exposure.

| | | Remember that right through the twentieth century up until the late 80's asbestos was regularly used in most buildings. If asbestos could instantly make you get sick within days after breathing it in, then the harmful effects of asbestos would have been discovered long ago and its use would have been discontinued many years ago. Our parents all grew up breathing in asbestos all the time. Breathing asbestos particles has absolutely no short term side effects. Also, using your sweatshirt hood is completely futile for protecting you from asbestos. The holes in your sweatshirt hood are way bigger than asbestos particles. Use a respirator. What got you sick was most likely mold or some kind of allergy or something.

| | | And not every kind of asbestos is proven to be harmful either. You can use the search function and find the discussions between the types.
(The reasons lawsuits are really pressed now is because of statue of limitations and the fact the cancer occurs later in life.)

| | | My husband managed to get into some poison ivy at an abandoned restaurant near Yuma, TN... You would have thought that the poor guy went for a roll in the stuff. His eyes were swollen shut, it was even in his mouth... It didn't effect me at all.. I, on the other hand, managed to get sick after snooping around in an abandoned house in Alvin, TX. I should have known better; there was black mold all over everything. I got a migraine so bad my Dr. had me sent to the ER because they thought I was having a stroke, my face & hands got a weird pink rash and just to add to the fun I actually managed to bruise a rib sneezing... Yay!
XOXO!!! Jenni |
