gotta really be determined and follow the google directions to a tee, but it's worth the trip.....we plan to go back next spring for a camping excursion, and maybe some paddling! [2X: Its an old iron truss highway bridge, 800ft long more or less that was riveted together and features an asphalt decking on large poured concrete supports]

Known as "The Queen Bridge over the Brazos" [2X edit: There's a lot of old stories and history. It was a lot more trouble to go to Cleburne prior to this bridge being built, if the water was up you just didn't go. Braden's Camp was located here, it was a fishing camp when auto-tourism was on the rise. For a couple bits you could park, pitch your tent, buy bait and fish till your hearts content. There was actually a town named Brazos Point not far from here, this is listed in the Texas Escapes ghost town website. For years local thrill-seekers would dive from the bridge. If the water level was up, you risked being swept away by the very strong current, if the water level was low, you risked hitting the bottom. An old rope, remnant from a rope swing once hung from the bridge super structure on the north side. Several old legends surround the bridge, none of which are in print, see Jack Carlton's book if you can find a copy. Ive looked for information about the roadside memorials on the bridge too, don't know if they were swimming accidents suicides or what but there are at least two accounts of people jumping to their death here.]
