I looked on google maps, there is a pretty much a straight line going from the foundation to the church outside the walls. Was this a military church for YR at one point in time? Could it go there?

Looks like it'll have to wait until the snow melts and its not wet, it was pretty dry out when i took those pictures and there's still water in the bunker

Thing is: I've been constantly looking at your photos Jonnie, and comparing them to the GE satmap of York Redoubt, and it almost looks as if that doorway might lead into a separate room. The room in the photos appear to be square, whereas the roof section is a rectangle. So if there is in fact a tunnel, it would most likely be either under where the vent was or in the next room. That's my take on it.

First pic, you can see the 'ceiling' of the bunker among the bushes and trees.
Last pic, you can see the doorway.

I was up looking at this thing earlier today, it's flooded up to about three or four feet below the air vent.

|  | | | Old thread, but... this "foundation" outside the main entrance of York Redoubt is actually the roof of the Oil Store. It was just a simple rectangular building used to store barrels of oil.
It was buried when the fort became a historic site, for the same reason as the laboratory and other features - it was already badly deteriorated 40 years ago, and burying it meant no-one would be hurt by falling bricks and it would be somewhat preserved. Better than using it for demolition training!
