It's a little bit of a better view, but still not much detail. Next time I go out, I'll put the strap on my camera so I can use it as a landyard, and put the camera all the way inside that hole.

If those rooms are still under there, then perhaps the building next to the magazine in the historical photo is also still intact within the hill?

(you can just see the top of the entrance to the magazine toward the right hand side)

Oh wow! it goes down, and then down again left and right!

I'm going to stab a guess at these being bunkers for the gun crews/ammo storage

Close, they're powder/ammunition magazines for each individual gun. There's a building across from the maintenance shed that used to be/still is a bunker-type structure. It's possible that it might be the one in the historic photo. But this is just speculation.

This you mean? (concrete ceiling of bunker in left hand side)

Or this? (I'm pretty sure the concrete on the left of this one is just a well)

Nope, that's not it. I don't have a picture of it. But it's the building across from the maintenance shed, on the way up to the BCP via the service road. There's the shed (new building), then on the left towards the BCP and 64-pounder battery there's a slanted-type building going into the ground, then about 12 feet past that is that tall shingle-sided building. I believe the slanted building is the one in the historical picture.

Also, outside the main entrance of york redoubt there is bunker that just looks like a foundation. I got a few pics inside, it looks like there's a doorway?

First pic, you can see the 'ceiling' of the bunker among the bushes and trees.

Last pic, you can see the doorway.

Whoa...and here I thought I'd seen everything at YR...next time I'm up that way, I'll take some long exposure shots of this thing, hopefully get some clear shots of the inside.
Although it looks like that doorway might lead to a loading bay of some sort. Or possibly into a tunnel system. It's incredibly hard to determine the scale from these pics, lol.

Define "super skinny"...and I'd prefer NOT to use shovels, especially where it's a National site.

Skinny as in, maybe a foot by foot tube for ventilation

(as you can see in pic 4)

I'm fairly sure the doorway is pointing away from the main entrance, Possible alternative route into bunker at the NW Entrance/Hidden Room?

Impossible, that rear bunker/room only has one entrance in and out. Although I have an idea of where it MIGHT go. If you recall, there's a hole being covered up by a sheet of diamond plating over near the original battery. I'm thinking it might go there, but who knows. I'd actually have to go up there to take a look. It could also go over to the main RML battery's bunker system.

EDIT:

I misread that last post. If it goes away from the YR main entrance, then it would be going towards Connaught Battery. But even still: CB is still a ways away from the redoubt, and it's not in direct line with any type of building at the battery.

***Errr, i worded that horribly.

Bunker/foundation is on the left side of the main entrance. doorway going away from entrance as in doorway being on the left side of the bunker. Sorry. my bad on wording that.

Ok, in that case, it heads down towards the generator room at the NW corner of the redoubt, but I can guarantee you it doesn't go inside it, as I've been inside (with AlexMcC & Protios). Although I can't say for sure where it might exit at. I haven't looked outside the wall very thoroughly, especially around the main entrance. Possibilities of maybe going all the way down to the water??
