Hopefully it doesn't get so cold that the water in your sweet sweet boots freezes. Poor fish.

| | | I will be serious. Last year I bought a pair of snow pants. Wearing long johns inside snow pants made me feel reasonably comfortable (leg wise) in well below -30 weather. Best purchase I made in awhile!

I totally concur, makes exploring that much more comfortable. The only problem with snow pants is if you need to be silent and move around it just isn't going to happen. Enjoy the sounds of SWISH SWISH SWISH as you walk around.
Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you. |

pixz or it didn't happen.... I'd love to see this, particularly while attempting the *new* symes access. also it'd agree with controleman. I bought gore tex socks recently, and woolly long johns, and last year I got a carhartt jacket which is so much warmer then anything else I ever owned. I've also stocked up on the hand warmers. They really do work. [last edit 11/15/2007 4:54 AM by Air - edited 2 times]

| | | pics and you'd go blind. My biggest winter challenge is gloves. My fingers have low blood circulation at the best of times. and in winter..brrrrr. Gloves don't work well,so I mostly have to use mitts. Not ideal for photography. The mest I've found is to wear a pair of cycling gloves under a pair of 'smokers gloves' (the kind with the mitts that fold back).

Lol! I use thin gore-tex next to skin gloves, and then I wear them on their own or knitted mitts under a gore tex shell which you can't move dials with. I have the same problem, my hands are always cold. I also hate winter, but last year I didn't have battery issues with film cameras, unlike the digitals from before.

| | | Carhart insulated double knee work pants are great because they are damn near impossible to rip and are pretty warm as long as they stay dry, but they are cotton, so if you do get wet, your screwed. Carhart also makes jackets that are nice and toasty. Another advantage to this stuff is that it is what most construction crews wear in the cold, so you look more inconspicuous than you would in damn army gear, that being said... Another good option for legs is boiled wool army pants, especially the German make. You can get them cheap at almost any army surplus store. The wool pants will keep you warm if you get wet, but they itch, so invest in a nice pair of polypro thermal long underwear. As far as gloves, if you have the cash, invest in a pair of Marmot "Work Gloves". These gloves are tough as nails, warm and give you good finger dexterity.
