In Poland it can get really cold. In such cases I'm a bit traditional.
Warm underwear, long johns, et cetera. Socks, sometimes two pairs of them. Pants that can stop wind. Warm sweatshirt, warm jacket. Something for head and ears protection. Military shoes with thermal insulation between feet and sole. I do everything to protect myself from cold wind. Often it's so cold that you just can;t find melted water to get wet, so wind is the biggest problem. I don't like exploring in winter, I love, when it's warm. I would explore steam tunnels in winter, if there were any in Poland...

Go to Gdansk and look near the rafineria gdanska, I remember seeing something of the sort around there when I was last there.

V-tech = V-Tek = Veetek = Witek. Make it count, say it right.

There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop...

For the most part I'll wear a touque, gloves, and my normal winter jacket (USAF Great Coat, 100% Wool Circa 1951)...however if it gets really cold I have an CF Issue Extreme Cold Parka.
