The key to being warm is in layers, small layers will keep you much warmer than one big one.

Russian army parka, a few pairs of pants, Canadian Forces issue Terra combat boots, a fut hat or black tuque and a pair of insulated leather work gloves.

If I want camo then I just by the 8 dollar cotton coveralls from the hardware store to put over my winter kit.

This thing is good to -40c with only a t-shirt under it.

So I was wonder if anyone knew of 'good' warm sturdy as hell leather gloves (not dress gloves, but actual thick leather)
I found some I kinda thought looked good, like the following two..

Black Diamond - Mad Max, they pretty much look as sturdy as a glove can come, more or less remind me of a hella warm motocross glove.. But I just can't justify spending $160 on gloves
http://www.bdel.com/gear/madmax.php

Black Diamond - Legend, These seem like the "low cost" version of the mad max gloves, less leather (but it's on the back so it's not a huge deal) and are also rated for colder weather then I should be out in anyways... But these are still $100, which is kinda steep still for gloves...
http://www.bdel.com/gear/legend.php

Anyone know of something along these lines are are warm and would take an insane beating, my leather rappelling gloves are great and all but they really are the worst gloves for keeping hands warm, keeping them safe on the other hand they do insanely well.. Also leather is a massive bonus, due to glass, sharp metal scrap and whatever hazards you don't want slitting your hands to all hell..
I'm lookin somewhere in the $50 and below range..

Look for cold weather work gloves. There are some types of work gloves that are ment for use in freezing temperatures but are durable and alow for pretty good dexterity. I just don't worry about that stuff and stick to work gloves over waterproof gloves over warm gloves.

Isn't under armor skin tight? I hate that, while it considers the package of mortal men, it does no justice for the package of an immortal legend like myself.

I personally enjoy my mid calf UGG booties in cream, then I pair them with a fabulous pair of tights with some type of fun print on them, then maybe a v neck cashmere sweater and either a pashmina in an accenting color, or this magical lace shrug I got for my birthday last year. I then top it off with a safety orange fedora with a goose feather or a holly branch sticking of it for camouflage so nobody notices me as I prance around inconspicuously.

from what thermal clothing normally says, in order for it to function at full level it should be 'snug' if it's loose it won't work nearly as well as it should..

An old M-65 field jacket with its liner does wonders when combined with a hoodie. It keeps me snug as a bug in all cold weather.
A nice knit cap to cover my skull and ears does nicely.
I usually can stick with jeans but when its snowy or really cold I have a nice pair of wool pants that I wear.
If you want really warm hands but still be able to use a camera fine these babies are where its at.

Is it just me or does the guy behind that first guy look like a friggin giant??

lol Its sniper Sasquatch

I have it down

A spandex undergarment, then a fleece sweater then a wind/water proof jacket..

never wear Cotton.. it absorbs water and takes forever to dry.. the spandex/underarmour takes 5 minutes to dry.. the fleece sweater takes about 10.. a cotton sweater will stay wet for hours..

for pants just anything then maybe a (quiet if possible) pair of snowpants. but just a pair of something under pants works good too.d ont forget if you happen to be inside b4 or after you will sweat like a bastard with all of this gear on

oh yeah.. and a face mask and ski Goggles

Under armour, microfleece, Columbia snowboarding jacket. Warm as hell. Usually a tuque too, but I have a bad guy issue ski mask if it's really fuckin cold. My hiking boots have goretex, so they usually stay fairly warm. I also have a pair of thinsulate lined shooter's gloves (aka hobo gloves), the fingerless ones with the flippy thing so your fingers don't freeze. And hand warmers are the SHIT.

Yeah for winter in Colorado!

Stay away from cotton- absorbs water like a sponge and takes 4ever to dry. Stick to Merino wool and synthetic stuff.

It doesn't get That cold here, maybe around 25 in extreme cases, but my Grenade hoodie (it's brown with a ww2 nose art style thing on the left chest) and London Fog trenchcoat have helped me a hell of alot. I also wear biker's fingerless gloves, but those are for style lol. sometimes i wear a scarf, maybe a hat if its like 25...

AVE...

In Poland it can get really cold. In such cases I'm a bit traditional.
Warm underwear, long johns, et cetera. Socks, sometimes two pairs of them. Pants that can stop wind. Warm sweatshirt, warm jacket. Something for head and ears protection. Military shoes with thermal insulation between feet and sole. I do everything to protect myself from cold wind. Often it's so cold that you just can;t find melted water to get wet, so wind is the biggest problem. I don't like exploring in winter, I love, when it's warm. I would explore steam tunnels in winter, if there were any in Poland...

Living in Poland is like searching for a key in a pool full of used syringes.
You never know, what you get...
