| | | are we talking depth or length? I've been in some abandoned subway tunnels that go pretty far from their only opening. [last edit 2/16/2008 5:04 AM by Gordon Bombay - edited 1 times]

-I checked out the nearby Eiksund tunnel a couple of months ago; when it opens, it will be the world's deepest road tunnel, IIRC. 7765m long; at its deepest it is 287m beneath sea level. Not very exciting, though - dark, cold and uphill all the way back out. -- OddE

| | | Are we talking depth? Does a mine count? Around 8,000 feet. If it has to be a tunnel around 2,400 is the deepest I can think of right off hand.

| | | I've been in some active mines with school and helping my dad carry shit for investigations into industrial accidents and deaths. I've been down to the 1200 metre level on some mines. I can tell you now that shit scares the hell out of me. Most of the time I have to hold lighting while dad and his coworkers measure up the scene where some guy just died. Tripods for lighting are too much of a pain in the ass to carry and resposition quickly. Or carry pump packs to dampen up the air so he can get the dust out of it to photograph the scene properly. I got my ticket as a mine cage operator, but I couldn't handel the work because I kept seeing those dead bodies in my mind as we went down. That's when I decided to go to uni instead of being a miner. I have been in some level mines, probably no more than 100 metres underground and five or six kilometres worth of tunnels. I went in 3 drains. Probably most cut and cover so not more than 5 metres underground. BTW, the spell checker on this site sucks ass. It could not figure out tripod from tipod or photograph from photograoh. Its best suggestion was pettigrew. That's lame.
Caution! This user is a wise ass and may use sarcasm. Is my back pack good enough for UERing? |

| | | Checked one out, started off in a deep ravine and went into some hills. Right off the bat it was probably -10ft or so, and once I was in a ways, there's no guessing how far down I was.
