| | Vacant church into living space - what do y'all think? < on 1/23/2008 2:54 PM >
| | | I'm sure some of you have thought about this - taking a church or other location you find abandoned and wonder what it would be like as a living space. Not sure about the design they chose, but cool idea imho. http://freshome.co...-modern-apartment/

| | | Wow,that looks awesome! I know that several old schoolhouses in Ontario have been converted to residences, but I can't think of a church that has.

| | | I can think of at least 3 churches in Toronto that have been, or are being, converted into lofts. When I lived in Tampa there was one there as well that had been converted. Great re-use of a building.

| | | Don't forget that one church converted a decade ago on Queen, near parliament. It was a near attempt to revival, and kudos to the buyers who were willing to live across from the largest building in regent park.

| | | I think that's The Glebe building? There is another church conversion on College & Palmerston currently under construction.
As to the styling of the church in the original posting... I love a clean uncluttered look... but that is sterile to a degree that I don't expect of ICU wards. [last edit 1/23/2008 4:53 PM by yokes - edited 1 times]

| | | Thats awesome. I would be kinda wigged out to live in a former church. I used to skate at a church and every time I went there I got hurt. probably just Karma I guess.

I think so, its next to the hardware shop (if its still there!). It is directly across from that huge Moss park apartments. They have a lawn that people seem to having garage sales at all the time during the summer. [last edit 1/23/2008 5:30 PM by Air - edited 1 times]

| | | yeah, there is a number of church conversions in the area here. I used to live in a school conversion.....okay well actually the living room was a one room school house built in 1871 and the rest was added much later. As a side note, the house and property operated as a public zoo for a number of years. And before you ask, yes, i was the brunt of jokes because of that for a while!!!

| | | I think thats really cool. I'd love to do it. My mom loves reno/real estate shows and I've seen stuff like warehouses and stores done too. The British show Relocation Relocation sometimes focuses on awesome converted country churches.
