| | | Posted by A Lorax If you do decide to write something, make sure that you put a date/year on it. Years from now (unless you wrote something truly profound) the most interesting thing will be the date/year that you wrote it. That being said, if you have stuff that you took from a location or "vandalizing equipment" (ie. spray paint etc) and you get caught you can get in trouble for more then just trespassing. Sometimes, depending on the site, I actually leave something in hopes that someone else will find it and either appreciate it in some way and leave it there or take it with them. Carpe Noctem!

Thanks for the insight, unfortunately my goal in life is not to whip out a thesaurus and try to make my self sound smart on the internet on a forum dedicated to breaking in to buildings/ going places you are not supposed to. Like I said in my original post, My response did not advocate any side of anything, all it did was state that you should do things for your selves the way you would like without regard to what people on the internet think of you. This is a fact. If you want to sit around here and chit chat and make buddies then have fun, I would rather break in to buildings and share my experiences with those who are interested. Get the sticks out of your asses. lol [last edit 12/12/2007 6:14 PM by ryan - edited 1 times]

| | | Posted by LunarLumen Urban exploring can definitely be legitimate if done with common sense and with a professional attitude. ... By the way, who's talking about trespassing, gently or otherwise (is there violent trespassing?). I never advocated for trespassing.
|
I'm taking legitimate to mean legal here. Legitimacy is greyer than legality. I wager 95% of the exploring depicted/reported on this site is done via tresspassing. Yes exploring CAN be legal but most of the time - let's honest here - it's not. Is tresspassing trivial in the eyes of this community? Evidently so. Pretty much everyone who has been involved in this community/hobby for a long accepts trespassing is just part of the 'game'. Are we advocating it? Some openly do but I figure most have crossed the line at some stage. If you want to see the abandoned parts of society you cannot get persmission for then tresspassing is an option.
Urban exploring can/should get the positive reputation it deserves, but only if those that practice it now go about it in the right way.
|
Oh mighty one, impart upon us your great wisdom of the one true path of urban exploration. No really, spit it out, I want to hear. After that, lurk moar. ps. [last edit 12/12/2007 6:19 PM by dsankt - edited 2 times]

Exactly. Cops are usually willing to forgive curiosity and pic taking if no one is being violated by it. A thief is just a common criminal as are those who destroy. You deserve to be arrested if your stupid enough to do these crimes time and time again. No one's an angle, but luck runs out, sooner or latter.
It's called survivability with minimum damage when shit goes wrong, and it will. Stealing isn't exploring; it's greed. B&E is just being selfish, pig headed, and not respecting other's property at all. There are plenty of opportunities without going nuts; some things are best left alone in the long run... if you want to last.

| | | I would usually follow this rule, except that I used to take documents but nowadays I find it much more convenient to just take pictures of them, and with fine detail thanks to technology. And plus I don't end up left with nasty papers with no more use to me, and it lets others see them.

To prove my point. It does not matter what people on the internet think of who you are or what you do. It should have no impact on who you are.

ok, help me out here. If it does not matter, then what is the motivation to do so? I would think if it truly didn't matter to you, then you wouldn't post at all? You replied because it doesn't matter? I'm just not following that line of reasoning. It obviously had an impact on you, it caused you to take the time to reply. Same as it has for myself. G

I am entertaining myself. In no way do I leave this computer and ever think, GEE maybe I shouldn't break in to this building, cause blackhawk says so. The whole point of the original post I made was just to state that people should do things for themselves and not let other peoples opinions of how they do it matter. I will continue to do things my way and and peoples opinions will continue to not matter. Its really a pretty simple concept. [last edit 12/12/2007 11:54 PM by ryan - edited 1 times]

Happens to everyone at some point in time.. when you actually explore stuff, its all luck no matter what kind of location you are at. For the record though I beat that case <3 and have been to dozens and dozens more places since. [last edit 12/13/2007 12:55 AM by ryan - edited 3 times]
