This doesn't seem like a particularly well-established argument. If this were true, you shouldn't be bothering to show us your photographs at the end of every successful weekend, or in fact participating here at all.

I share my photos in the photography section, where people go to view pictures of abandoned buildings. It doesnt mean I care what people think of how I do things. In fact, if I did care about the way people thought of me and the way I do things I would be more likely not to post because most people here hate the way I do things.

In the end there are no rules in UE, just widely accepted guidelines that some choose to follow (at least in public).

Chalkboards, if empty by default, are an exception from "leave only footprints" rule, since writing on them is not considered as permanent damage. A board filled with notes from past visitors also makes the site far more interesting than an empty one. However, if there's no chalkboard, starting a guest book on the wall is not the same. On the other hand, bringing a chalkboard or a notebook could be...

As for taking stuff, just like nomeus said, if you don't take it, someone else will. However, it's up to you to decide whether you want to be the last proper explorer to see the item in question or do you really need to "salvage" it, especially if the site is not being demolished or otherwise permanently destroyed. For example I have decided that it's not my job to save stuff from being destroyed or otherwise lost for good. Just seeing it is enough.

All information and details given in good faith but not guaranteed!

I shit in abandonments all the time. That's the only thing I "leave" outside of footprints.

But seriously, I wish people would stop toting Ninj's book as the all holy bible to UE. It's only one person's opinion, and UE is what you make it out to be.

You do what you do the way you want to do it and dont worry if its "propper" or if its "acceptable" We are just people on the internet we are not a part of your actual life, our opinions or views should not matter, and they should definitely have no impact on what you decide to do.

If we didn't exist as a community, why do we even bother to post photos and opinions? You seemed pretty pissed off a few weeks ago when you said people/friends were making fun of you in some "private forum"....

As for the chalk board argument, as it was already stated before it does tip of security to your presence, and that can't be denied. That is if they are not dense enough to miss it.

I look for the largest, heaviest, most unmanageable items I can possibly steal and look for the smallest, least accessible point to get them out of. Ideally, I enjoy hauling my ill gotten heavy, gross, rusty theftables up multiple flights of stairs or up unstable collapses. Failing this, I will throw my new prize out a window and retrieve it outside. Anything I find actually is too heavy or unwieldy for me to actually extract from a location, I either burn or cover in spray paint to ensure no one else can enjoy it.

Get down, girl, go 'head, get down.

Can't remember who or where I borrowed this from.

They were not "making fun" they where speaking badly of me "making fun" is something 7th graders do on the playground to taunt others. And they were not random people on the internet they were people i considered friends.

It's like telling kids to stay away from drugs and sex and murder. You know they'll do all of those things eventually, you just want to help them resist the sweet temptation for as long as possible.

I agree!

So what is the big deal about writing on a blank chalkboard, notebook, dusty table or floor, wall (vandalism), window (vandalism), etc. The big deal is that next time you or another UE buddy shows up, the place will be locked up tighter, and security personnel will be looking out for you. I agree with Air 33 on this.

What makes us so special that we can write, erase, alter, or destroy an urban site, or erase the words and ideas left behind by those associated with the site? Why not just enjoy a site just with our eyes and presence? I lose no sleep over hearing that police arrested "so and so" for vandalising an abandoned site or location. Good, let them leave a postcard that they visited the local jail if they are so inclined to write/alter something.

I've easily stopped exploring with some who I have known vandalized in the past, or have said they've done it. I don't need them, nor do I need the added pressure of looking over my shoulder for the police just because I'm exploring with an idiot. Doing so takes away the enjoyment of exploring.

I'm going hunting for mysteries. Where's my flashlight?

C'mon. Most of the time what goes on here is the same grade 7 rumor mill or people throwing sand into each others face. I don't ever remember kids acting silly and dumb in the sandbox, it only seems that people get worse with age.

As for throwing stolen items out the window, please think of the children and only aim furniture at overzealous security guards.
