The UK film Severance is quite cool, a bit of a horror pic about a group of workers who go on a team building 'holiday' only to find themselves in a long abandoned lodge ... with bad consequences

Someone already popped "Omega Man" in here and that one is an instant classic.
Nothing like jogging through LA with a grease gun and no one stopping you about it.
I'm also looking forward to that "I Am Legend" that will be coming out.
It's based around the same Matheson book like the previously mentioned movie.
Although it has that Fresh Prince guy in it, I thought it would be interesting to see how awkward a place would become with present-day technology lying all over the place.
Those abandoned NYPD cruisers at the deserted checkpoints is chilling and thrilling at the same time.

The new Transformers movie is close to my heart because I'm from Detroit and they filmed in Michigan Central Station...one of my favorite sites.

As far as I'm concerned, all of this UE stuff is just training for the day when I start hanging out with (and banging) Alice, so I was thrilled to see this preview...

mutantMandias may cause dizziness, sexual nightmares, and sleep crime. ++++ mutantMandias has to return some videotapes ++++ Do not taunt mutantMandias

I saw it mentioned in passing before, but I just watched Children of Men on my flight down under and it was phenomenal. It's 18 years after the last human was born and now all women are infertile and the world is starting to spin out of control. It bloody brilliant and reeks of UE, with drains and abandonments aplenty. And it's shot entirely with hand held cams and looks hyper-realistic.

I can't believe no-one here has mentioned R-Point http://imdb.com/title/tt0417072/

Its a bit like a cross between Session 9, Full Metal Jacket and the Shining. Don't be put off if you don't like any of those films though, its ace!

I have seen Session 9 a while ago and it was pretty cool. You should check out Death Tunnel, it is based on a true story.

I wasn't impressed with Death Tunnel too much. I thought it was poorly done.
And the "True" story behind it was just the hospital itself and the bodies being taken to the tunnel, not the people getting killed in the place

Not my favorite by far,but that silly "horror" movie entitled "The Descent",

And not to be forgotten..."The Labyrinth" (David Bowie! ah!)

You remind me of the Babe!
What Babe?
The Babe with the power!
What power?
The power of VooDoo!
Who do?
You do!
Do what?
REMIND ME OF THE BABE!!!

The Bridges of Madison County!

Great movie, very much a chick flick but still good.

This is a covered bridge in West Montrose, Ontario (Region of Waterloo) Apparently the only one in Ontario. The first picture was taken from the front step of the bed and breakfast I stayed in ... it was beautiful there.

As for UE related movie ... how about Children of the corn? Based in a town called Gatlin, Nebraska but actually filmed in Iowa. The original scenes are of a couple entering a ghost town where the children killed all of the adults.

Ambivalent? Well yes and no

I just saw "Transformers" last night, and it was a lot better than I expected it to be! There are a few short scenes that take place in abandoned areas, such as a silo, an indoor junkyard and a large city station. I would have paid more attention to them but I was constantly distracted by Megan Fox. HOT!!!! This movie is also filled with some of the most amazing special effects I have seen yet. Anyway this movie kicks all kinds of ass so go watch it.

I'd say Children of Men is a pretty nice film to watch if you're interested in UE, you might like it for the same reasons...the most obvious would be: lots of decaying buildings ;) But I really liked the pictures and the whole film, many scenes are filmed in one go, I finally bought it just today

But there's two different kinds. There's bad asbestos, and there's nice asbestos. Anyway, it grows on you.

I recently saw movie on the scifi channel called BOO! It was a stupid name for a movie and i only saw the last half of it but it took place in an abandoned hospital full of zombie ghosts, so if you like stupid zombie slasher movies (like i do) and urbex check it out if you want. It's actually kinda funny at parts.

The Goonies was my intro to ue , I thought session 9 was extremely boring and fell asleep half way through it although it was an awesome location. Children of Men was amazing and the most recent one i have seen. Im looking forward to new remake "The Last Man on earth". The original with Vincent Price was actually very good and the thought of wandering around a completely empty NYC gives me goose bumps.

Does anyone remember the movie 'Prom Night'?

It starred Jamie Lee Curtis and the beginning scene is an abandoned convent (actually Don Mills Collegiate Institute here in Ontario),where the kids push a little girl out the window and leave her to die.

The school looked creepy as hell, and I've always remembered that part when I've been in abandoned schools since.

Man that movie was bad, but yes I remember that. Interesting location.
