Went to an apparent haunted house

One of my friends told me about this place on Courtice Road South and Baseline Road East across from the industrial buildings in Courtice. I haven't found anything on the internet about it but apparently it was originally an orphanage and then the town bought it then a family. The wife went crazy and killed her whole family inside the house. It's kind of like an Amityville house but the wife is the killer not the husband. Like I said i'm not sure if this is actually true because i have yet to find information on it but I took tons of pictures.
you can check out the pictures on my msn space at

http://spaces.msn.com/members/jobbles/

Leo1: You cant just wander around Gary going into old buildings! Theres plenty of crackheads that will bust you in the mouth for that camera, then run a train your ladyfriends.
Me: I like Gary, I think its nice, aside from the lack of eats on a Sunday afternoon.
Leo2: Yeah, its really nice...until we find three dead strangers in an...abandoned...thing.

In the "Amityville" house, it wasn't the husband that killed everyone, it was the eldest son...

...but anyhoo...

That would be the Southview Villa, boarded up stealthily...

Southview Villa is amongst the most impressive farmhouses built in the Township during the late 19th century. It is located on the north side of Baseline Road, east of Courtice Road (Durham Road 34) and was built in 1887. Its design is derived from the Queen Anne Revival style which became popular across the province in the early 1880's. Constructed of red brick with buff brick "quoina" at the corners, the house employs a two storey bay window set below a tall, peaked gable as its main architectural feature. The gable, like those of numerous dormer windows, is filled with elaborate bargeboard. The front entrance is protected by a fretwork verandah and the window heads are finished with carved stone lintels containing a central keystone. The house retains its original slate roof and window glazing.

The inscription "Southview Villa 1887" is set in the gable of the verandah roof Henry Pearce is shown as the owner of this property on both the 1861 Tremaine County Map and the 1878 Township Map in Beldan's Atlas.

The John C. Trull house, circa 1885, is located just east of Southview Villa, on the south side of Baseline Road.

Thanks to http://www.claringtonmuseums.com/ for the information! I heartily recommend you visit one or all three of their branches in Clarington.

Myself and IanK1968 happened to be in the area Monday so we took a tour. Someone recently ripped off some of the well-fortified boarding and it is definitely open to exploring after a long hiatus... I'll post the location/gallery in the Ontario, Canada section for Tuesday morning.

It is haunted. When me and Fedge where upstairs looking around, we heard footsteps downstairs. They sounded like someone was walking around downstairs. The owner or the kids that once lived there must be the ones walking around. We heard the footsteps loud and clear. They stopped when we called out and started again after a couple minutes. I had an eerie feeling the entire time we toured this house. Maybe our pictures will reveal something. If your a ghost hunter, this is the place to try out some of your ghost buster equipment. I am positive you find something, or someone who is deceased and roaming around the house.

Wow, awesome pics fedge. The one titled 3.jpg strikes me as wonderfully strange.
Kind of reminds me of the movie "Being John Malkovich"
Can you tell me why that door at the end of the hall appears to be so low? Is a trick of the lens? Very creepy. I love this shot in particular!

I thought maybe there were some steps leading down to that doorway from the hallway, giving the illusion that the door is smaller than normal.

I was once in this house, Invited by the maintenance guy. He had asked me to stand guard of the back door while he went in to check the place out. I am not sure if he was afraid of ghosts, or vagrants. Once he went through the place with his flashlight (including the basement), he invited myself and my 2 year old son at the time in for a look around. He definitely wanted me to wait around while he went through the place. He asked me to stand back from the door, in case someone came running out... Something freaked him out about the place.

Because it was dark in the basement, we didn't go down while he gave me tour... But, I would love to know if the rumor is true, about an apparent hole in the basement walls that used to hold a body.
