I am heading out to that location if any of you guys want to come meet me there it would be cool to go in togeather. It sounds like a neat old house and I look forward to takeing a tour. I guess it shouldnt take me longer then around 30 mins to walk through the whole house.

on a side note, I will go by the name Devineus. so just give me a shout inside the house if you dont see me on the outside. I will respond as soon as I hear you, so if you dont hear a "ya hello?" its not me in there with ya.

Yes, It would have been nice if someone mentioned the grates in the floor are all missing. My friend almost stepped in one. I hated having to crawl into the bathtub to get in. I though the back door would have been open (wishfull thinking) all in all it was much less interesting then the other site I checked out. No ghosts or gholies, no dis-imbodied footsepts, noda nothing zilch. just the squishing of water logged running shoes. that and the odd comment about the cool slogans written on the wall. "YOU ARE NOT ALONE", "YOU WILL BE ONE OF US", "LOCK THE DOOR TO THE BASEMENT AT ALL TIMES". ect, it felt really scooby dooish. It was really dark due to the boarded up windows. It kinda reminded me of the cottages at whitby phyq, *SOB* I MISS YOU!! WHITBY PHYQ!!! the most impressive part of the house is the main stair case, the back hall lowers onto the level, its too bad the main rail was removed i bet it would have been an amazing carved railing. the other house that I was touring in was the sister house of this one. It is about 90% intact. where is this one is about 50%, it only took about 10-15 mins to look around the whole house. I wish I would of been haunted, but I guess I dont have luck when it comes to such things. I think they are scared of me at times. oh well what can you do...

I went to school with milissa freak, I remember her being a bit defensive and bitchy but probably just because of the way ppl treated her. I never knew she lived in that house though, that must of been cool growing up in that huge old house.

If anyone is interested I would love to have a seance in the house (would also be fun to mess around with my ouiji board). I am serious about this! But such things cannot be done without some measure of preparation so if you guys want to do something like this tell me who all would be interested and they have to be shure they will come, because I will not do it unless there is a minimum of four people. Also those who are going to attend must be over the age of 18 years old. I will accept younger only if you are accompanied by an adult who is willing to take responsibility for you. so tell me if anyone is interested and I can look into setting something up.

Scooby doo time!

Thanks to http://www.claringtonmuseums.com/ for the information! I heartily recommend you visit one or all three of their branches in Clarington.

That url is not working for me at all. I've checked everyday for a week now and still no luck

i encourage you guys to go there for sure... be in an open minded state and yes get some recording devices, try using a digital recorder and a casette recorder, i have also heard things when i was a child about a guy turning a tv oon a blank chanell and aiming a videocamera at it on record, then replay the recoded image of the tv and then record it agian or something, im not trying to be stupid i saw a ghost when i was younger and my mother has from what ive been told. i would like to get in the basement witha metal detector, why dont you guys try checking out the attic, you never know what forgotten items of historical importance could be there, kids who go in these places dont think of the attics, or the dirt in the basement /cellar floor <if it is dirt>
if wanna go in with a metal detector anyways!. would be interesting to find out how to piss ghosts off and then im sure if they were there youd know it, imagine bringing in some old recordings or religious music or something and recording it in the house with a recorder, see if it plays back different

im not trying to be a dick this stuff seriously fascinates me, these days the world is so screwed up nothing shocks us anymore, not many things are mysteries anynmore lol

The story I have heard from many many people about the house on Cochrane just over the train tracks was that the house was previously lived in by a man who had moved to canada from ireland and was eventually arrested for having explosives and weapons hidden in the house. He was also a part of the IRA.
Don't know if it's true, but everyone I know that are older than me and have lived by there, have said that they remembered the cops being there and the guy being arrested.

Ha...Yeah I know that house...its just north of the White Ash St entrance on the east side of Cochrane. I remember hearing the explosion too. Thats not the crazy lady house though. The guy collected guns/ammo/etc and one went off and there was a chain reaction. I dont know if he was Irish though. I do know they still come back from time to time to maintain the property. Weird they dont sell it, or condemn it fully. At the time all of us neighbours considered taking the guy to court (if it was even possible to do so) we were so pissed off.

Back to the Courtice 'Southview' house...Man...I have a metal detector and love finding historical stuff...but with those neighbours across the street and the vandalizing charges the owner could throw (as that house was once full of marble, rich mouldings and woodwork), I am a fraidy-cat.

PS.Does it have dirt floor in the basement?

PPS. Anyone else metal detect whose interested in starting a club?
