When I'm not naked, I'm always wearing all black utility clothing.
I've even used it to hide in broad daylight, if there's a shadowed spot and I can hide my arms and bald head.
It came in handy when I snuck into the Ladd center, since security does loops down the main entrance road with just their parking lights on. As well as countless times hiding on the side of the highway when caught doing graffiti.

I generally wear just black cargo pants and a black shirt; I want to blend in but not be too suspicious. On colder nights I wear a sweet black trenchcoat, if I don't expect to be doing any climbing or anything.

I usually wear black cargo pants and a black hoodie. It has saved me many a time cause it looks like I am only a shadow.

Actually, unless it's faded a bit, black clothing looks like an unnaturally black spot and will stand out in a shadow. Dark greys are the most neutral for blending into a shadowed area...

personally it depends on where i am planning on going.

If its at night I wear navy blue pants and/or tshirt sweatshirt (i dont think its as hard to explain as being dressed head to toe in black at night)

otherwise, non-baggy pants and a thriftstore bought employee polo of some type. I find it helps blend in in the blue collar areas I usually end up in, and if someone should remember what your shirt said, or in extreme cases a name on the shirt I think its better its not your own. Call it working class camo if you will.

I make a point of not wearing all-black since it will look suspicious if I *am* caught on a construction site or something - so typically go with a navy blue top or something that's a little more subtle

Definitely not a bad idea, ideally in hi traffic areas the better camo would be either some kind of uniform or khakis and a nice button up shirt..

does anyone have any tips on moving quietly through the woods? Foot steps on dead leaves are such a give away...

It's usually hard to walk through dry leaves quietly. A good tactic to use that won't quiet your steps, but rather alter them, is to walk with an irregular pace. You will be heard far easier with the usual 'crunch, crunch, crunch' sound than if you vary your walking pattern. It will sound more natural and will not be as easily identifiable as a human walking. For example take a couple short steps, then a longer one, then a couple medium ones. Pause for a second then take a couple longer steps, then take a couple shorter steps, then a medium step.

Also if sound is a very big deal in any situation and you aren't in a rush, get down and bellycrawl, slowly.. that can work very well.. but extremely slow.. also when you step put the outside of your toes down first then roll the rest of your foot onto the ground slowly, thats a lil louder but alot faster

Just to let you know belly crawling can cause far more noise then walking slowly. Snipers have no where to go or be, hence there use of extremely long and very slow movement. Everyone else from the grunt to Spec Ops, usually move with a purpose. This means almost never seeing people on the ground laying flat. This can be translated to people who do UE who have limited time, and dont want to crawl.

I posted a whole thing about walking. Not sure if it was on the private bored or not.

Yeah, you are right, but as I use that ghillie when airsofting, it would lead to heat stroke during hot summer

I always wear my blue collar work clothes! camouflages both ways. it's all the same colour, dark blue. and it's also clothing that looks like what a city worker might have on. cause I was a city (town) worker last summer. plus the boots I got are great.

Food for thought: don't dress up like GI Joe or all black, that just screams I'm doing something bad, especially in an urban environment. If you're in the woods or desert, then wear cammies by all means.

I always dress to adapt to the environment I'm going to be in.

Wear normal clothes, something with a logo on it. I wear khaki dickies and a black alpinestars shirt or something similar. If you gotta jump ship, you don't want to be rolling down the street wearing all camoflauge. Coordinate your colors in such a way that if you needed to, you could hide in a bush or tree and not be seen; or once you got away you could walk down the street without sticking out like a sore thumb.

I tend to stay away from wearing anything reflective though. It's not going to do you any good hiding out in that bush and Jonny Law coming by with his flashlight only to see your azz light right up when he strafes his light over in your direction.

If you use a backpack, use a normal black backpack. I use one made by Circa footwear, I got it at a skateboard shop. Bring an extra shirt or hat if you so desire. That way you could change and not match the physical description if someone is looking for you. If and after you change, ditch the clothes. That way if you do get stopped, it wouldn't do you much good to have what you were previously wearing in your bag, now would it.

Exercise noise and light discipline. If someone is near, don't be shining your light all over the place and keep your mouth shut. Make sure whatever you are carrying doesn't rattle or make alot of noise. If it does, make it so it doesn't, by using tape, rubber, etc.

actually, my pants are pretty old and worn, and I usually wear my painting pants from work. and a grey sweater i don't care too much for. when I don't shave for a while, and if I don't have lot's of camera gear I probably look like a bum...I don't know if that's a good thing or not. hahaha. my favourite pants are the ones I have with really deep pockets, very good at concealing my flashlight so we don't look suspicious approaching places. unfortunately my department at work last summer was not given personal hardhats. I would have liked to have one. and it would be useful for some UE. but it depends on the place, and the plan, if the plan is to be exploring it for the first time, I pack light and focus on stealth. if it's a place we know and are revisiting for better photos then I pack as light as I can but the focus is more on looking like any normal citizen with a tripod and some camera gear.

Couple of thoughts about not camouflage "blending in" clothing.

I have been wearing loose cargo pants and hoodie for most of my trips. Most of my UE clothes are earth toned, like brown, dark grey etc. I also wear regular black backpack.

On some on my newest ventures, I've come across graffiti writers quite a few times, and I realized that I dress just like most of them. Since they are doing what they do illegally, someone who sees me going into somewhere, might make a conclusion I'm a writer (vandal) too.

Couple of days ago I met two photographers on a abandoned factory, and first they seemed to think I'm a writer. Their clothing was lot more tidy than mine and their whole appearance gave me the impression they were there only to take pictures, although I didn't even see their camera gear at first.

My point is, that you can wear colors that blend in, but still look like a "normal person" or someone who has a "right" to be there, and not someone who is sneaking around to do something illegal like a thief or graffiti writer.

I would think that, when confronted by site worker, security or cops, you might appear better by looking "regular guy" taking pictures rather than some stereotype of vandal or thief.

I find that say cammo pants and a black shirt work well. Im all for the cammo pants just because they are a little more durable and are designed to take some abuse. However id much rather go in wearing a normal outfit, say dark jeans and a black shirt, but the cammo withstands abuse much better and I dont feel guilty tearing holes and trudging through mud with them.
