MatC said exactly what was on my mind - talk to her about it first. Make it clear that you completely understand how she might be weirded out by going into an abandoned building alone with a guy she doesn't know very well. To put her at ease, you might also want to suggest that you follow the old spelunking maxim of telling someone exactly where you're going, when you expect to be back, and when to call in the cavalry.

Hells yeah! Last week I met this yummy ass photographer/celloist that I went to Grant Center Hospital with and I must say it was really interesting. It was so cool to kiss as the rain fell while we sat in the kitchen of the abandoned hospital. Gave me chills...he said he was in heaven. Too bad he's leaving back to Boston in 3 weeks!

but there is nothing better than finding a person who has so much curiosity pulsing through their veins. Its a true adrenaline rush! yum yum yummy!

My dream (and I hope it will come true) is to find a guy that loves to explore as much as I do and we can go to random abandoned beautiful areas and have great sex in the most strangest of places...where its not dirty of course. If it is i guess we can just kiss...

Gee sounds almost like my ex except it just never got that exciting...But there will be others...

I bet that if you found a random cute guy and said, "hey, I like to explore abandoned buildings. Want to go into one with me?" he'd become an explorer real quick.

Seriously, though, we're drawing from a biased pool of people here. Anybody who is dedicated enough to exploring to not only seek out an online community of like-minded individuals, but also regularly post on an online forum about that topic, are probably hardcore enough into UE that they would have dragged a date or two along to a UE location. A random sampling of the population at large would probably turn up a much smaller number of guys who spend more Friday nights skulking about on rooftops than kickin' it in a club. (Do people "kick it" anymore? I'm so uncool.)

We should all start leaving personals ads in the places we explore. Then again, that might cause more dates with taggers and C.H.U.D.s than it would real UE'rs. Scratch that idea.

been, there, done that, and they always love it even when they don't. Any girl I'm with would need to be, at the very least, interested in this hobby.

Let me assure you, that is NOT true. The typical reaction is generally "UM, why?" or "ew."

Really? I find that to be very odd. I can understand not being into something that a woman I was dating was into (and possibly having that be an issue if that was really her passion) but if she and I were driving around somewhere on a first or second date and she said to me, "hey, I have an idea -- let's go check out an abandoned building I know about," I'd probably say, "hey, that's cool, sure!" especially if she then explained why she goes there (to take pictures, to appreciate the history behind them, etc.). Then again, I am already into UE and so my view on this doesn't really count. (Also, I am generally a polite person so unless I was totally sour on a particular idea, I probably wouldn't shoot it down, especially with, "ew," since that directly reflects on the person who put forth the idea in the first place, suggesting that they are weird or distasteful.)

So, in essence, what I am saying is, Drie needs to meet a nice UE boy.

Oh wait, that's what you were saying too...

Yes, I think during NEOPEX, we both figured out we each need to meet nice UE-ing person-of-other-sex...

I think it might work.. heck my first date with wuffychicky was basically a night out doing my other hobby... emergency response work. we responded to 2 major calls and i also got called into my work for a emergency aswell.. i thought i was boring her,... but apparently she loved it, even tho she got home at 6 AM.. !!! If i was interested in UE at the time I would of taken her out UE'ing. simple as that. If they don't like doing what you do for fun, how can you ever spend any quality time together?

therefore it is good to test her if she likes your main hobby right away... atleast i think so.

Wuffychicky took a while to convert however.. she didn't like the illegal aspects of UEing and for a while she didn't want to even have anything to do with it. But now since she knows I am hooked on it, she has changed her views and she now helps out with missions and even comes in sometimes !

So .. if I were to go on a first date with her, as a UE date, i don't think it would of gone well.. but on the other hand if she loves ya or likes ya enough, she will change her views.

R. Wolf.
