the pro to exploring alone is you get to take as much time at a specific spot within a spot as you want to take pictures of something, you don't have to decide as a group where to go left or right. When I go exploring alone I am very relaxed. The biggest benefit for me to going with others, is my willingness to push myself climbing wise. I love it when I go with somebody that is not afraid of heights, and I can follow them and have there presence which is calming to me. In Access to all Areas the book by ninjalicious it mentions the pros of going with the opposite sex in cases of getting caught and trying to explain your innocence. I have some spots in mind that I need to find a female explorer to go with, so we can make it a "date" just climbing up for the view.

I've been exploring alone a lot lately, but since I nearly got my heavy ass stuck a couple weeks back, I'm a little bit hesitant to go on my own for a bit -_-

I think it's situational, but whenever I'd like to go w/ someone I'm really selective with who I'd ask.

I try to never go exploring alone. I have a few times but usually it is return visits to places. I also never go into somewhere I know is sketchy alone. There are lots of us here in Atlanta some more knowledgeable then others. I too am new to the scene but have been in and around Atlanta my whole life. So if you're ever looking to meet up with people just look around and good luck exploring! Welcome to Atlanta too by the way.

For me it depends on a whole lot of circumstances. I love exploring alone because you have as much time inside as you want to see everything, you only have to worry about yourself getting in and out, and you don't have to worry about other people doing stupid shit. On the other hand, it's always nice to have experienced explorer friends come along with me. They know the do's and don'ts of urbex so I'm comfortable with them being with me. I'll also bring someone if I'm going into a building right next to a housing project/other low income neighborhood just in case we run into any crazy people.

I sometimes will explore a lone, but more often than not I explore with others. It's not really that I get scared, but in case we run into someone who's crazy, or one of us ends up getting hurt, having someone as backup definitely helps.

90% of the time I go places with my girlfriend and a small group of other friends. Occasionally I will go alone to stuff that is in really bad neighborhoods, as I get up early and move fairly quickly and clandestine when alone. I wouldn't want to drag a bunch of friends to a place where we aimlessly wander the perimeter looking for a way in while everyone in their crack houses or driving by can see all our gear.

Yay you linked my thread! I explore with friends most of the time, ranging around 3 people including me, sometimes I go crazy and go with like 6 people but that's rare. It's nice to share the experience, but I've started to appreciate exploring alone, I acknowledge the dangers but it's nice to go my own pace, I enjoy going really slowly, taking in everything, and not being rushed by my friends who are normally impatient. I also get better pictures because, no impatient people. There is another explorer near me and when we explore it's basically the two of us exploring alone together. I also don't get scared by dark or small places and I do sometimes get held back by my friends. I had to give them all my flashlights once because we were in these underground tunnels in America's 'most haunted place.' Had to use my camera flash to see every couple steps. That scared them too.

My friend manhandled me up a roof once. |

I explored alone just once and... nothing bad happened, albeit the place was easy to explore. I really prefer to have someone with me, and usually I explore with my two close friends. It's just safer that way in case of an accident, being caught, or meeting some bad people inside. I wouldn't recommend going alone to anyone, but I can see the pros of it, and why someone would like to go alone. Size of the group is a different subject, but imho 4 people is the absolute max, and 3 of them should be somehow experienced in UE.

Posted by sabs I've done some ue before and have always been going alone, but recently moved to Atlanta.. Which I found to be a way more "scary" city then where I'm from. I don't know any fellow uer here so just wondering if you guys explore alone? How do I find a local ue group?

Never. NEVER. For a few reasons: 1. I'm female 2. I can't run very fast 3. I'm a klutz My luck, I would get my foot stuck in something and end up starving to death and being eaten by squirrels.

I have, but very rarely. I have a group of friends that are really into exploring, and when all of them are busy I can usually find someone who is new to exploring but interested in coming.

I live in Atlanta as well and have gone to a No Exit Atl event. They're good for starting out, but it can be a pain to be with so many people. If you need someone to go with you, pm me; I'd like to go exploring some more.

Exploring is one of the only things I don't do alone these days. I don't mind going alone, but if there's one thing that I can say to get my friends to actually go do something, it's that I'll take them exploring. Otherwise, I can never get them to even leave their houses.
