I'm going to ask you again.

Did you close up that giant POE that you made so that whoever is responsible for keeping that location secure has no idea that we're going in and out of there?

No one is going to want to share any location info with you if you're going to fuck it for the rest of us.

Some of us tend to visit locations more then once. If you bring heat to a location because of your childish actions and it results in being locked down for good and results in increased security because you forgot to cover up the hole you made, you're not going to be very welcome here.

If your book is going to have any content besides just pictures of you, you better do some research and watch how other people do this or your first chapter is going to be

Chapter 1.
"How I got arrested..."

Honestly, I don't care that here, you made your own POE. And I don't care that you posted a picture.

What I care about is the location itself and the continued access to it for all of us.

Don't be an amateur.

Be a ninja!

I kinda made my own entrance. I'm not sorry.

*facepalm*

I'm not going to get all righteous about how bad it is to break in and cause damage because, like it or not, that's how we all ultimately get into places that have been sealed. Because someone has made their own entry and the rest of us utilise that. Some are made by taggers, or vandals, and some by explorers. It's just that they don't talk about it.

But what I will say is that it's really, really stupid admitting to criminal damage on an open forum - especially one which shows your face. It doesn't make you look badass, just retarded.

BlahBlahBlah Admitting to Rule breaking

If you haven't already, I suggest you go and fix the hole you put in that building. Go reseal that entrance before the cops do it.

Learn a lesson from this, when you enjoy an explore - make sure you leave it the way you found it so that others can enjoy it as well. And even though you may do it (as I assume lots of explorers here do, but very few admit to it) DON'T TALK ABOUT DOING IT ON A PUBLIC FORUM. Break & Enter is much more serious than Trespassing.

Constructive:
1. Read the rules
2. Don't break anything. Period. If you can't get in without breaking something, either accept defeat or try to get official permission.
3. Don't ask for locations or statuses of locations in threads. Make friends and talk about that privately. Some of us talk about statuses of well-known sites, but as you get started, you should avoid it.

@Cracked - Although B&E is how we get access to some buildings, that doesn't mean WE have to be the ones doing it. It gives us all a bad reputation.

Guys, I appreciate the criticism but some of your comments are uncalled for.

I made up for my mistake and just want to move on. I appreciate being told the rules and understanding what it means to be a better Urban Explorer and I won't make the same mistakes as next time.

So thank you to those who didn't have to make a big deal about my mistake and thank you for correcting me. I'm a stupid ass kid who made a mistake and I made up for it.

And to answer your questions: yes. I did cover it up. I put the boards back when I left with the intention of coming back to figure out how to seal it up better. So please, let's be adults and just move on. I've learned my lesson and you can continue going on and on and on about my mistake, or we can just drop it and next time I'll know better.

Thanks, everyone.

You've been here for about a year, if you don't already know it's a good time to learn. Mistakes are not taken lightly here. Even the simplest mistake will be hung over your head for ages. It happens to every one of us.

Just make sure to keep a good rep from now on. Just be a decent explorer, take some photos and move on. There will always be haters but just do what makes you happy.

Good.

Maybe the next time you go, you may want to actually pull it closed or recover or whatever after you're in the building. That way, if anyone comes by while you are inside they won't be tipped off.

You've admitted you were in the wrong, now tell them again that you fixed the POE. Really no need for uncalled for comments after that.

Everyone else, Flashyfashionfraud is an admitted n00b who made a mistake, owned up to it, and corrected it, who'd just like to fit in here. Please don't be a dick.

Siper- Thank you for articulating that. I sometimes have trouble fully getting out what's in my head.

Calvin Kaneda and Sky_Anne- Very well said!

Flashyfahinonfraud- I have to commend you on admitting when you're wrong. That takes a tremendous amount of self awareness and personal strength.
I'd like to offer you an apology for the manner I brought your mistake to you. I could have and should have been more empathetic and helpful. I'm sorry and I hope you can forgive me.
The hazing around here has gotten better and how I said what I said isn't helping to improve that and will never happen again.

For the record- I never launched a personal attack. My attack was aimed at the behavior. Sorry for the confusion.

tribeachpunk- Is it really called for to resort to calling people names? Actually! Isn't that against forum rules, and what we're ALL trying to accomplish here today?

-Thank you

Good idea. I admit I just wasn't thinking, despite being here for a year I have to admit I've only really gotten into the hobby the past few months and I'm still new and getting used to just...everything. I get caught up in the high of just doing what I really enjoy doing I forget to be smart sometimes. Thanks for the tip.

Actually, I created the account in hopes of diving more into the hobby a year ago after finding an abandoned house but I haven't fully gotten into the site or the hobby until the past couple of months and only now am I fully trying to be more part of the community. Don't let numbers fool you, I'm still pretty new.

Thanks for that, like I said I'm just trying to fit in and I keep making mistakes that I, myself, facepalm myself when I realize it after it's done. I'm just figuring things out and I promise I'll keep getting better with this, I just need to be pointed in the right direction if I do mess up so I won't make the same mistake again. Hopefully we can both work out our mistakes and try to be the best members we can be.

Thanks for apologizing, it does mean a lot. I get I did something really stupid, but it really is best to just politely correct me and I'll totally own up for what I've done. Like I said, I'm a moronic noob still getting used to this.

I understand and I never took anything said on here personally, I guess I was just afraid that if I tried to make up for what I've done or talk to anyone about this I'd get trolled more when I'm just trying to move on and do better next time. Like I said, I did patch it up and was planning on going back to patch it up more once I had the means to. The boards were easy to place up against the door once we left.

And thank you all for the apologies, it means a lot and it makes me feel more welcome to better help the community. I don't mean to damage, I just want to help anyway I can and I just did it in a way I shouldn't have. Thank you all for understanding and being patient with me. It means a lot.

good job everyone! i watched this one skid through too but until now i wasn't inclined to contribute.
FlashyFF: so lessons learned that's good. i just wanna say that this level of severity is consistent here, at least in the PSW, & once you find a place yourself you are gonna be really stoked to know that all these people came down on you so hard here. these are people that care more about a place than about an online persona, these are the people that care more for an activity than the praise that may come from it, & these are the people that you know you can trust to share it with. this is what you want, where you want to be & who you want to present your pics & exploits to because these are the people that odd as it may seem now you will respect. this level of scrutiny is ideal. good on you to kinda see the real value of their upset.

so i wanna give you some more unsolicited advice & say to take it easy, you don't gotta be a here for anyone but you, and as you can see here we really have some preferred observed rules. when you want you be apart of that other doors may open.

my point is simple, we all want you to succeed at your new activity but we really care more about the locations, this isn't just a hobby to us. it is an idiosyncratic combination of various skills that we all employ to enjoy this bizarre after thought of existence & the awesome places that it brings us to. its a lil different for all of us but the one thing we all have in common are the places we visit & when they go away what do we have? the other thing some of us strive for that we all to have in common is respect for those very locations. respect for the people that protect them & capture their beauty without endangering them for their own benefit. how "outsiders" & "n00bs" come to understand that is more important to me than what those same newcomers are willing to risk to show us some pics.

please take care of the places you visit & please seriously consider who you share them with that doesn't understand what you just went through here. not all are so interested in the preservation of such places.

i speak only really for me, though i know those that agree. so please enjoy & protect.

-madcap

As someone who had a slightly similar experience almost a year ago (but on the other side of the country), I want to give you a virtual pat on the back for handling this as well as you did as well as admitting your mistake. You just have to take every mistake as a learning experience so you know better than to do it again.

Good luck with your future explores!

All I have to say is if you decide to interact with other like minded people and be open to their ideas and beliefs, you will find yourself accepted much more quickly around here.

I don't believe I have ever asked for a handout, but I have asked numerous times to tag along on other people's business. Some have said yes, some have said no. I try to learn what other's before me have to say because this was theirs before it was mine.

Look, listen and learn.
