It's my first ever new(ish) car. Newest I've ever owned before is a 94. And it's not a dodge so hopefully it should hold together for a while. Obviously i'm really excited about it so here's a thread lol.
2009 civic SI, 2.0 i-vtec. 51k miles, still has a warrantee for a couple years. I kinda jumped into it and don't really know anything about Hondas and what kind of maintenance they'll need down the road, so if any other Honda guys want to chime in please do. Hoping to hold onto this car for several years, maybe decades, so I suppose I'll find out.
Anyway here's some pics. It's like a big go kart. Even has gokart style pedals. I baby my cars so I doubt I'll ever drive it hard enough to see what it can really do at 7000rpm, but it's still just crazy fun.

a blender has more torque, but they do make a fun sound as you're heading past 7,000 RPM. My only beef with the Civic Si was the fact you had to keep it wound to have fun with it, like on a twisty road? You had to make damn sure you were in the right gear exiting an apex or you might as well throw out the anchor and do some fishing. That's just the way Honda's are.
other than that, you really don't hear too much about them breaking.

I was worried about that, but with the 6 speed it actually does quite well in corners and going up hills around 3-4k.

I still have the Shelby. It's hanging out in the backyard in motor mount surgery It's the rear mount and a pain in the ass, so I've been putting it off. I even still have my Spirit, although it hasn't been road legal since december. Now I can keep the mileage off and hopefully finish restoring them (if I can get a better job.)
Anyway, My dad left me his 2009 Ford Fusion when he passed away last month so I'd finally have a good car, since I've never had anything reliable ever. Unfortunately, already at 30,000 miles, the transmission was starting to go, and it was burning through a quart of oil every 2 weeks, not to mention the interior was falling apart. It's also been kinda painful to see his car outside knowing he'll never come home, and I don't want to be driving around in his car. It's just too weird. So it got traded.
I don't think he would mind. He knew I hated that ford, and expected I'd probably trade it. The Honda has about 20 thousand more miles (and was already repaired from a bad front end collision,) but I trust it'll last far longer and be much less of a headache. Hopefully I won't have to worry about transportation for at least 5-10, maybe even 15 years.

I rocked Hondas and Acuras for the past 10 years (up until the VW I just got). Between them, I racked up about 400,000 miles. The only issue I had in that time was a broken catalytic converter shield. They're almost boringly reliable! 
Congrats and enjoy it.

I'm happy with my Si, although I have a 2012. I have the 2.4L and I find it fun. I just went 6.2L per 100kms in my car, I'm not sure what that works out for you American friends, I'm to lazy to convert it. All Civic's are built in Ontario for what it matters.

As long as I don't ever have to deal with this 100+ miles away from home again, I can totally deal with some boringly reliable. Anyone notice all the oil spots on the road in the civic pics? All from one of my old cars.

I had a TSX with a 2.4 and 6MT combo... great motor! I had a lot of fun with that car... I got 29-30 mpg without trying too hard.

Yeah they're my favorite cars. Always ha been, always will be. That's why I still own both of mine.
The Direct≠Connection book? It's fucking awesome!! Unfortunately it predates the Turbo 2 engine by several years and is mostly about NA power, but there's some suspension and steering diagrams that are seriously useful, and it's also just really, really cool to read tech articles from the period where the best was yet to come. It's epic.

i wish the shitheel in Dayton TN had that book when I had my 86 Daytona... he just kept trying to sell me a Neon ACR they had been stuck with for (by that time) three years. Dark green car, no A/C in southeastern TN... no wonder it didn't sell.
oh to just have that body back... most of the Daytona and every other turbo Chrysler up here has just about rotted in half.

That's the ideal way to do it, I think, get something boringly reliable for your daily commute and when you know you don't want to break down, and keep the interesting rides on the back burner.

It's funny, I found that book at the local Dodge dealer like 12 years ago, when I still had a 1st gen Daytona- gave me LOTS of ideas. That one pic in the beginning of the book with the full body-kitted Daytona is pretty neat.
