My first Turbo Z was red with grey cloth, analog gauges, T tops, and sooooooo much rust hidden under those ground effects. But it looked glorious.

I loved my first generation z, red with black leather enthusiasts , all digi and t tops , I sure did like that car.

Had the same one! Red/Black leather, digital dash, pump up lumbar, CS package... no t-tops on mine though.

mine was rust free, but the paint was damn near baked off of it from being in Tennessee for 14 years.

I always loved the look of a first gen, but still love the 2nd gen the most, although I find the same era Lebaron styling far better. If I weren't looking at such an immaculate car, perhaps a custom project would be in the works. I've been kicking the idea of a Lebaron Hatchback around in my mind for a few years. I'll probably do it eventually.

Anyway, The more I've found out about this particular Daytona talking with the owner, the better it sounds, and my mom actually offered to give me a ride out to Maryland. So there's a good chance dreams may come true. Now I just wait and find out. Even if I can't secure the $4000 I'd need to make this happen, I've found other Daytonas and a Spirit R/T in pretty good shape too, for closer to the $1500-2500 range.

On a side note. Does anyone have experience with trying to retitle a salvage vehicle? Because I've worked far too hard to at least not try to salvage it as a daily driver, regardless of what car I end up with after this is over.

Rebuilt Salvage Titles

After you make the necessary repairs to bring your vehicle into working condition, you will need to obtain a rebuilt salvage title.

The first step in this process is to have it inspected at an inspection facility run by the Ohio State Highway Patrol (scroll down that page for addresses).

Before making the inspection appointment, stop by a deputy registrar's branch to pick up an inspection form and pay the required fee. Your clerk will then give you a receipt number. You'll need that number when you are scheduling the appointment to have your vehicle inspected.
The Inspection

Make sure to bring any receipts for repairs and new parts with you to the inspection, along with the salvage title. If you have receipts from private-party sales, they will need to be notarized.

Keep in mind that the purpose of the inspection is to certify the ownership of all the vehicle parts and to review all the required documentation. It is not a judgment on the vehicle's safety, or the quality of work performed.

If your vehicle passes the inspection, take the completed inspection form and your salvage title to a title office and apply for the rebuilt salvage title. Once you obtain that, your vehicle is legal to be driven on highways.

You should also know that if you dismantle, destroy, or change the character of your vehicle so that it no longer is a complete car, you must forfeit your title to the County Clerk of Courts title office. Likewise, if you sell your car to a junk dealer, you must sign over your title to the dealer.

Just pulled that off of dmv.org for Ohio.

What do you think about Shelby lancers? I had One and really liked it, as they are often overlooked.

The Lancers and Lebaron GTS are awesome cars and I've always wanted one, but finding one in my price range that is both running and not a rot box is impossible unless you can wait a while. I'm also unsure if you can get a late T1 or T2 model without the Shelby badge.

Yeah I'd trust your know how. It all depends on price, rust, and as-is drivability. You're in colorado right? That's a hefty drive, but these cars are pretty trustworthy. Right now i'm pretty much set on this daytona as long as the bank can get me $3600, but if you can get a price and some info on it and maybe a pic without being too heavily inconvenienced that'd certainly be appreciated, thanks

I'm from South Carolina. We don't believe in rust. I should be home second week in January. I'll see what the deal is with it.

Have you contacted the seller yet? And my offer still stands. I have access to a car trailer and a garage with a pit.

I could contact Uship, but I've always wanted to buy a car and road trip it home. And it's a valid excuse for 2 days off.

Yeah I've been in contact with the seller. What offer btw? I seemed to have missed it.
