So they're going to try buffing again with their best guy, who's at their other location in Waukegan. They're also going to repaint my rear bumper that they say was a missed item because of a deep scratch, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't there when I originally dropped it off. At least I get another rental.

look on the bright side, Jon... at least they're making an attempt to make good on your ride.

being a car guy and a previous painter I know you wont get a perfect match on the majority of black cars. Also, as mentioned before, all this hassle for such a small spot. I hope you dont drive the car on any roads or youre gonna be one upset cookie down the road Good luck with it all, its always nice to see when the body shop and appraiser keep moving forward until youre satisfied. But you also need to remember, no matter what you think and people tell you, it'll never be the same as before the damage, the insurance is to make it look as close as possible to its pre loss condition.

Your car isn't gonna be brand new forever. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll realize you could have bought an ATV with the money you spent on paint.

Did I hear talk of buying atv?! Great investment, even bigger money pit than repairing a car. First $1,000 gets my atv.

It's surely an investment.

Last time I went grocery shopping, I came out of the store to find a shopping cart leaning on my car. Someone probably pushed his cart and it ended up in my passenger front door. It made quite a large dent. People are careless. This is just the way it is.

Down the road, not within first months of ownership. I already know Lake County roads are a death sentence for paint... ask my Fiero, which I'm driving in the meantime unless it rains; that's when the rental they provided comes in. I am glad they're still trying.

i'm trying to sell my 2002 Yamaha Warrior 350... everyone keeps trying to lowball me and then gets pissed when I won't drop the price. $1400 US for a good condition, well-maintained Warrior is not too much in my opinion.

Selling my 93 Civic on Kijiji/Craigslist was one of the most infuriating things I've ever experienced.

here's the thing though. I assume that you are smart enough to NOT ask $3600 US for a beat up 96 Civic coupe with 212,000 MILES on the odometer.

At least a dozen of these so far- THEM- Do you still have it? ME- Yes I do. THEM- ... Two of these- THEM- I'll be by at 5 to look at it. ME- Great, I'll be there even though I have to leave work early to make it by 5. Please let me know if you can't make it. THEM- MIA after I left work early. THEM- You're asking 2600. Whats the lowest you'll go? ME- Well, I'm negotiable so feel free to make an offer. THEM- ... THEM- Hey, I have an '87 Ramcharger, kinda rusty and missing the engine, but you know like super rare, wanna trade? It's worth way more than the bike so it would work out great for you. ME- ... THEM- Hey, I'll buy the seat from you. ME- How am I supposed to sell a bike without a seat? THEM- ...

In the end I sold it to some douche for a less than it was worth because I just couldn't deal with it anymore (it took MONTHS) and my dad was ready to scrap it, since it was taking up his garage. It also lived two hours away from me so it was enough of a pain to sell while in school full time and working without the added douchery and fail that Delbert mentioned and more... The best part was after I sold it to this assclown for not much above scrap, he had the nerve to call me a number of times to ask for half of his money back because supposedly there were major issues with the car....even though it drove it 2 hours back to Toronto. Some of the complaints were obviously made up, such as the temperature gauge "kept going up and down the whole time" and whatnot. I might be female but I'm not fucking retarded and I work in the auto industry so I'll call your bluff. I never said the car was perfect (it's almost 20 years old with 13 owners and 360,000) and it was sold "as is". I drove it for a few weeks in August 2011 and had no issues with it, and bandi was with me for my goodbyes and took it for a quick spin as well with no complaints. Pretty sure he got a damned good deal...and supposedly he is a mechanic, so stuff like brakes, timing belt, etc. that it would've needed shouldn't be an issue and are more or less par for the course with a car that age. I'm not even going to open my email account for selling that car because it'll just piss me off to read over all the fuckery. I'm pissed enough that some dick got my beloved first car just because I was in a pinch. /end rant tl;dr People buying things on Craigslist etc are dicktrees.

I realized my friend was retarded, like borderline special needs, when he called up some guy about a car he couldn't afford (60's muscle show car), talked to him about it for a half hour, setup a time to come by and look at the car and then of course never had the balls to show up or to call the guy back and tell him he wasn't coming. I've been infuriated by people trying to sell camera gear and asking me stupid fucking questions they could look up on the internet then trying to lowball on already reasonable prices. Send me 20-30 texts back and forth then tell me you have to wait three weeks for tax returns and ask me if I'll wait to sell it? Motherfucker, it's a $200 lens. You don't have $200 in cash on hand, you shouldn't be buying camera gear in the first place. If I don't get an already educated, local seller, I say fuck it, I'm not dealing with it.

When I sold the Honda Passport with the bad head gasket, I had a call from the owner of a used car lot on 82nd Ave here in Portland. Now 82nd Ave is full of used car lots of the questionable variety run by all sorts of minorities that want to get back at whitey; honestly it's a fair scam unless you know how to deal with them. This guy was a Romanian gypsy I know for a fact I was speaking with and he understood my ad completely but told me he's sending his brother over to look at the rig before buying. OK, fair enough. The guy gets there; he's half Romainan, half Middle Eastern and his accent is hard to understand because of that. He likes what he sees, but he then he goes "Let's Negociate!" which I say "No, the ad said 700 firm!" and he fired back with "But I fix SUV and resell it!" I told him again, 700 or he needs to leave. He storms off back to his tow truck but then turns around, goes back to me and goes " Ok! fine! 700! Handshake?" We shake, he gives me the money which was all in 20s and then hauls the Passport off.
