Stupid stupid people who are stupid who believe that 'gun control' necessarily means 'taking away your guns,' instead of the more reasonable 'installing preventative measures/assurances that guns don't end up in some nut-job's freaky hands.'

We should all have guns. That way, the stupid people will kill each other and the smart people with reasoning and self control will rule the world (and be able to kill the stupid people).

Guns (particularly when used for cowardly reasons -- and namely, handguns), seem to me, to be a way of 'compensating' for something that one lacks below the waistline.

There, I said it.

This doesn't apply to people who think it's just cool to see a cinder block eaten away by a barrage of lead or a milk jug blown to smithereens.

We have enough laws as it is. Why not enforce the existing laws instead of adding new ones?

Even though I don't own guns, I don't have an issue with someone owning a gun as long as he or she follows the laws in regards to handling, transportation, storage etc.

And get some real penalties in place when the existing laws are broken. Example, careless storage should mean you lose all firearms and are banned for life from owning them.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I heard about this one girl, she was like 12 yrs old or something and she found her parents' gun and aimed it at her twin sister and killed her. She didn't mean to kill her or anything, they were just playing around and she didn't know it was loaded. I think it was the parents' fault that they didn't hide it somewere. Its also there fault that they didn't teach her gun safety.

I don't know ANYONE who owns a gun, and aside from being in the Military, I have NEVER carried a gun/rifle or EVEN seen a gun/rifle outside in the public (in Canada)

Is there THAT much a difference between Canada and the USA with this? (this IS a serious question)

I can't even IMAGINE owning a gun for ANY purpose what-so-ever. If Atomx brought home a gun I would fucking shoot him WITH it.

All the classic sayings are very true....

"Criminalize guns and only criminals have guns"

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people"

When we take away the honest, responsible persons rights to own a gun, then only the criminals have guns. They no longer fear getting shot by a good Samaratin during the crime they are committing, they only need to fear the police.

If we take away all the guns, people will kill wih knives, take away the knives, they kill with baseball bats, pipe wrenchs, wine bottles, ect.

Tighter Gun Control measures are needed in some places, but not an outright ban on owning guns. I agree with some of the above comments, tougher penalties for violations of current gun control laws.

That works too. I once showed nude pics of rainman8889 to a bunch of elderly women as they emerged from a bingo hall, and one of them died on the spot from heart failure, and the others fled in panic.

Guns DON'T kill people. People with previously noted psychopathological mood disorders/issues viz. a viz. violent fantasies, who have unfettered access to unrestricted firearms kill people.

I'm sick of hearing this. It sounds all macho and counter-counter-revolutionary neo maxi zoom dweebie, but c'mon. Lets try to not be quite so idiotic.

Do you also recommend giving everyone a car to drive around in? No matter how stupid and incapable they are of not driving over people on the sidewalk?

So, you have to have some type of gun control, unless you want to keep a bin full of loaded guns on every street corner, free for anyone to grab as they walk past. THAT is no gun control.

And by the way, Kubla, do you realize that you are trying to take a poll on whether or not people agree with a clause that makes no assertion at all? It doesn't make any sense to agree or disagree with your first comment.

the very concept of gun control is foolish and fraudulent. it doesn't work. hell japan has baseball bat control and any knife over 3 inches control and it doesn't work either. you need to deal with the person with the problem, not the implement. i have been a shooter and gun owner all my life and if i wanted to kill alot of people in a short time i would use a car.

Gun control to me.....

No one with a violent criminal record permitted to have a handgun or assault rifle.

Background check on purchaser.

Caught breaking the storage, transport, shooting rules - loss of guns 1 year

Caught again - loss of guns forever.

Deemed mentally handicaped, or mentally ill - no guns unless condition improves of person (ie. temporary depression)

Mandatory safety training prior to ownership

Yes, and the Japanese courts have a 99% conviction rate and the prisons are a Super Happy Fun Time Human-Rights Free Zone.

Maybe THAT has a little something to do with it, too.
