I remember seeing a photograph taken by a surf photographer trying to track it down yet, but the drain entrance was right on the beach and its a square drain pipe, pretty big as well 7x7 ft square, you could easily stand up inside it.

I'll post up the shot if I can find it, but know it was taken near the ocean in this area. If I cant find the photo I'll go scout it out next week if I have some free time.

Anyway, heres one of the prospective locations.

I live pretty close to L.A. but haven't ever had the opportunity to explore the storm drain system. Which is too bad because as demonstrated by these photos, is a system filled with great architecture and it's function and completion is a marvel. The roaches are par for the course when draining I suppose. Here where I live in North Orange county (Brea), the drains are still pretty decent. But I've always been hesitant about entering a drain without a trustworthy companion. I would love to get together and explore some time.

I spent several hours last night looking for the Fullerton Tunnels. Saw one or two I might consider an entrance but didn't have the tools available to look into it. I ended up going to the Brea area and just hiking in the local hills, and low and behold I found a pretty nice drainage pipe.

I've been away from the forum for a while, so I'm still relearning all the rules (although I think I remember not posting exactly where I was to be one of them), so if I do break any with my posts in the following days please let me know kindly! Not intentional.

1. Shortly after this I nailed myself on an overhead pipe pretty hard:

2. Without flash, you can see how dark it can get deep in the tunnels:

3. We actually had a good time just chatting in the dark:

4. A little flash to illuminate our actual course of travel:

5. Funny as it may seem, our bamboo sticks actually help a lot in our explorations of the past and present:

I just moved to Fullerton but from what I've heard about the tunnels is its best to start near the HS because that's where most of them are. I still have yet to check them out though.

Some serious formations down in this one. Didn't get particularly good photos of those though. Have to go back with a better camera and tripod.

41n 93w, I admire your fortitude. I am not a drain-type person, and seeing your photos has reinforced that resolve. While I know I would never care to see it for myself, I'm unsure if I find those formations fascinating or horrifying.

I haven't met Rescueme, I don't talk to him, and heck, I barely bother to read what he has to say. That said, I have little to nothing to base an opinion of him one way or another, so don't get me wrong here; I am by no means sticking up for him or anyone else. I just can't be the only one bored to death of these types of comments.

Frankly, I was enjoying the respite from this kind of nonsense that this week has brought. We have plenty of dickwaving, grandstanding and bashing going on in the PSW as it is without another Region being heard from.

It's just so disappointing to see so many relevant threads go by the wayside unrecognized because everyone is so busy getting their drama fix and puffing up their egos by trying to flatten someone else.

Is that what we're all here for? I guess I'm doing it wrong if that's the case. I thought we were here to share our passion for the hobby, our interpretations of what exploration is to us through our stories and photos -- if not for their skillful capture of the beauty that is abandonment, but even just as evidence that we were there doing our thing. I thought we were here as members of a community, to support and encourage each other in this endeavor at the very least. Obviously, I am mistaken.

MonkeyPunchBaby, I apologize that you were the proverbial last straw because you're barely a blip on my Annoying Asshat Radar but it's this kind of petty, unnecessary needling of other members that really takes the shine away from what more productive members of this community are contributing.

Yes, this could have been a PM, but it seemed more appropriate for a broader audience. My apologies to anyone that disagrees.

TL;DR - I am so sick of this shit. Grow up.
