I'm just repeating what I read an imam said. I haven't been able to find the citation. When I do, I'll post it. IIRC, the artist did receive death threats. But that's irrelevant.

Are you 7 years old or something? Do you not know how to stay on topic?

Are you really as stupid as you act? Do you know how to not stereotype people? Or does jesus want you to hate everyone?

C'mon be fair. It's not 100% off topic.

You are saying that the Koran condones violence. He is just pointing out the same instances in the Bible(Which is the Koran's biggest contender). You just don't agree with him. There is a distinction.

Its amazing how those who are so quick to defend Islam are equally quick to slam Christianity, due to some absurd assumption everybody who disagrees with you is some Bible thumping evangelist.

I agree with that.

Will either of you agree there is a big difference between what a book says and what its followers actually do?

Also, you people all seem to think this is some sort of crusade, where its Christendom vs Islam. Hate to break it to you, it is Western culture, thought, and civilization vs Islam.

To be fair, I always make a point to not attack any religion as a whole, br it Christianity, Islam, or any of the millions of other(and just as valid) beliefs.

just like christians. Is westboro baptist an accurate representation of christianity?

Yes, I will agree to that. Anyone who acts out in violence should answer to it. The only issue I have is when this is portrayed as Islam as a whole. It's not. This is a representation of maybe .01% of the World's Islamic population. So saying it's the world(or western culture and thought) against Islam is simply not true and quite frankly a mis-informed and ignorant statement. It could be said it is the western world against the lunatic minority of Islamic radicals.

i'll attack with zest, zeal and a maniacal grin on my face.

i'm sick of both camps... like there is such a big choice.
Muslims- believe in allah... OR WE'LL FUCKING KILL YOU
Christians- believe in god... or ELSE! (christians are too lazy to riot or break shit... it's hard to get a good riot on thumpin a bible)

Calm down, now.

I don't remember speaking about the KKK.

I have my views on this and you have yours.

That was directed at MonkeyPunch. He compared a well documented and factual site with a KKK site because he doesn't like that it says.

Carpet bombing my have been poetic speech in my part, true. However, if you do think we are not killing civilians out there an a very grand scale, then I am forced to believe that you have been brain washed by whatever branch of the military you have decided to join. But I also don't expect you to agree with me, and that's ok too.

Do we kill civilians? Yes. Have we killed lots of civilians? Yes. Do we kill civilians on purpose? No. Are soldiers investigated every time a civilians is shot? Yes. Have we killed the majority of civilians? No.

Do our enemies kill civilians? Yes. Have they killed the majority of civilians? Yes. Do they kill civilians on purpose? Yes, often.

You obviously like the United States decision in regard to teh Middle East much more than I do.

I really doubt much more. Iraq was a giant waste, Lybia is a giant waste. Afghanistan is the one I agree with, and it could have been much better if we didn't shift focus to the fiasco that was Iraq.

Remember, I am the one who has to go and get shot at. I'm not thrilled I have to go to the asshole of the world to do it either.

No, but how large is that church? Like 50 people strong or something from one inbred family. Also, yeah, they are giant douches but really what do they do? Yell a whole lot and piss people off.

If muslim extremists were happy to protest and yell when things make them mad I dont think people would have a problem. But they dont, they blow shit up and murder people on a daily basis.

muslim extremist are extremist, meaning they dont do anything with any sort of rationale. the other 90+% of the muslim community has just protested and not killed anyone or hurt anyone.

They are a small church with few members that are known nationwide. just like this guy and his dove ministries are now known.

the real bad guy is the media. if they had ignored this instead of giving him any attention, this wouldn't had spread as bad. but also if he had not done it, it wouldn't have happened.

So, if China invaded and occupied the U.S., what would you do? Maybe you wouldn't start being really nasty on day one, but what if China had been fucking with your country's internal sovereignty for over 60 years already, and you had been raised in abject poverty because of the political games that other countries were playing out by fucking with your existence?

It is not Islam that is the problem. Islam is used as a tool to manipulate people, just like Christianity is a tool to manipulate people. Christianity is twisted for atrocities all over the world every day. In the past, Christianity has been used to commit far greater atrocities than Islam has had a chance to get around to (and during that time, Islam was advancing math, science and literature).

I will say that, President Obama - to his credit - went on to declare, after denouncing the Quran burning, that to kill innocent people in response is "...outrageous and an offense to human decency and dignity ..."
It's a bleak commentary on the prevailing political atmosphere that Obama's public recognition of the atrocities committed by those rampaging soldiers of Islam should seem noteworthy.

Eh?

Said the same thing about the danger to American troops when Newsweek published a false report in 05, that US interrogators had flushed a Koran down the toilet
That set off days of rioting, looting, raping and bloodshed in Afghanistan and elsewhere ...

Remember that?

When discussing this and not making no mention of the perpetrators (or true motivations!) of the current massacres ... you're going down a dangerous rabbit hole.
It's a familiar rabbit hole called appeasement ... one whose certain outcome is familiar.

Displays of cringing deference to the murderous mobs on the streets of Afghanistan won't strengthen the American mission.
They will encourage the jihaddis.
Days of rage like that count as victories ...
We are showing them that the threat of terrorism continues to work.
Don't hurt us, we'll shut up.
Toss out the 1st Amendment ... just don't hurt us.

Gimme a break on the Christians were violent 1000 years ago crap like it applies at all to today. I don't live in 1100 AD so forgive me if I don't give a shit how people acted back then. I live in now, and now radical Islam behaves in a hugely violent and backwards fashion, as does the entire middle east.

Also, btw, the Crusades were instigated by Muslim conquests of Christan lands in the Byzantine Empire. Just so you know.
